Beg to differ as our local Butcher, baker & hardware store are doing very nicely from all the extra trade they are doing. As people are visiting them, rather than spend ages just getting through the door of the supermarkets.

I'm surprised any are still open. Certainly, close to me all of those such stores have been shuttered for weeks...

Why they are all essential services.

All retail with notable exceptions

I did not say they had been told to close by the government.

I said all those small independents near me  were simply all closed of their own volition...

Whether this is because of a downturn in sales or simply terror that  trading might expose them unnecessarily to a deadly virus I'll let you decide...
