They must be inundated with these requests.  Their workforce will be decimated by the virus.  They will also be waiting on a decision further up the food chain.  This doesn't make the delay in responding disgusting.
Decimated? Sounds a bit much. Remember the number of cases are published.
One in ten of the workforce having to stay at home? Doesn't sound too far-fetched.

In the contact centre my wife manages some campaigns are seeing a 30% absence rate.

And dont forget that the vast majority of people who have CV-19 wont actually have been / be tested for it.  They'll be self isolating at home.
Even if you have CV-19 like symptoms you must stay at home.

The published cases are only the ones that have tested positive. There could be between ten and a hundred times as many off sick who have it but don't know for certain. And as Car_54 says, decimate means 1 in 10, or did when the Romans popularised it, nowadays it seems to mean "nearly all of them" ;)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Lets put it like this then.
We are sat of banks of 20 users (down to 10 due to social distancing) Every time someone on the bank of desks goes sick with suspected Covid 19. The 9 other people have to go off for 7 days, or longer if they get symptoms.
As you can see, it only needs a couple of banks to go down to make a massive impact on staffing levels.
Enough desks space for just short of 2000 people. Non customer facing have all gone to home working. Trying to get home working set up for the rest.
On Friday @ 15:00 there were 10 banks of desks in use. This is a major bank call center.

Thats exactly it.  Pretty much whats been happening in my wifes place.

I think all but one of her campaigns are now working from home and that ones due to be all working from home by the end of this week coming.

But their staffing rates are way down.

We're telling you how it is and what people are seeing out there in the real world.  Refuse to accept it all you like, but call centres in particular are very badly hit.

Theres some people cant accept facts i guess - some still think the world is flat....
