  • Then I'm not sure why you are trying to do anything else?

I would expect you to get a calculation for 2020:21 in due course allowing the tax relief for 2019:20 (one week) and 2020:21 (full year).

2019:20 is limited to one week, not the full year (for working just one day) and 2019:20 is only £4/week as well not £6.
Because the year I’m claiming tax relief for (ie these dates), then start a set of questions / a form needs to be completed, it’s not a one-off question, claim for this tax year and that’s it. They are asking how much I’m claiming in expenses (how much I paid / how much my employer paid). It’s not just the mini coronavirus wfh set of questions. Essentially, I don’t think I’ve claimed the 2020-21 relief. I’ve been sent on to some new random claiming expenses’ path. I think…

No idea where you are getting a potential refund of £312 from?

The only place you can get £312 from is your employer.

HMRC allow tax relief on £312 which will save you between £0 and, in extreme circumstances*, £190 in tax per year.  For most who apply retrospectively it will be either £60 or £120.

You should get a calculation for last year in the couple of weeks.

    * Only people completing Self Assessment returns could get that much.

Oh ok - that’s where I’ve gotten confused - £312 tax relief it’s been added to my tax code. Ok so the 20/21 is this refunded as a cash/cheque payment or in my wages - can’t seem to find an answer anywhere - ty btw :0)

Is it usual for October to be the month for doing this? It seems a long time since the tax year ended and in prior years I'm sure I got tax calculations in July.
  • The op said "I applied for WFH tax relief yesterday" so what happened in the summer is irrelevant, they need a new calculation to include the WFH expenses.

For 2021:22 you will get an adjustment (less tax not an actual refund normally) the first time your employer uses the new tax code.

For 2020:21 you will get a calculation and be invited to pull the money into your bank account from your Personal Tax Account.

You may be able to do that now i.e. the calculation is in the post but the ability to claim the tax overpaid (for 2020:21) could already exist.
