In my experience, it can take 3-4 days AFTER the DD is shown leaving your bank, before the credit shows on the Utility Co. account .:)1

That explains it thanks.
Is it normal for the payment not to show in my login area for a while? The money has been paid from my bank early hours of the morningCompletely normal. You'll figure out what their specific delay is, as it does vary between suppliers, but anything up to 2-3 days between it leaving your bank and appearing on their system is perfectly normal.

Thanks guys lll wait then, if its not registered by next week I'll call them0

Been updated and I'm £40 in credit

Now I'm £40 in credit, will this be deducted from my next bill?
So if the bill comes to £60, they will take £40 from my credit and £20 from my bank?0 -
Well to be precise, the bill will be deducted from the £40. Say the bill is £91 again, you'll then have a debit balance of £51. They will then take £65.95 from your bank leaving your account about £16 in credit. As I understand it, you've signed up telling them your annual consumption which they reckon will cost £791 a year for which they are billing you £65.95 a month.Don't over-think this!!2

Correct. How ever I thought by doing meter readings you pay for what you've used rather than an estimate?Talldave said:Well to be precise, the bill will be deducted from the £40. Also if the bill was £91 this month why did they only take £65 from my bank?0

venomx said:Correct. How ever I thought by doing meter readings you pay for what you've used rather than an estimate? That's true only if you pay by Variable Direct Debit, but sadly few suppliers offer it. If Ofgem were any good they'd make it the default, it would avoid so much confusion.1

OK so they will take £65 regardless of how much I've used then at the end of the year if they owe me anything (credit) they will pay it back?Gerry1 said:venomx said:Correct. Also they prompt me to give meter readings each month and In the email it says "So we can bill you accurately, please provide us with a monthly up to date meter reading"
What's the point in meter readings if they don't have any use?0
