Have got a couple of the batch cooked vegetable curry out for dinner tonight and a couple of chicken breasts for tomorrow night which will be stuffed with soft cheese and wrapped in parma ham which is in the fridge and needs using up, it's already out of date but hopefully it'll be OK; if not then it will just be stuffed chicken breast!

Today's lunch was using up the last of everything...
...last of the small flour tortilla's and last bit of cheese made into quesadillas in the sandwich maker (flat toasties as the OH calls them) - the last of the cucumber sliced, the last of the cherry tomatoes, last two eggs for OH & last tin of tuna for me!
Even had to use a splash of B@iley's in my coffee today as we were out of milk!
Bring on the bi-weekly grocery shop in and hour, or we'll be having plain risotto made with water for dinner4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Love the fact you had to use some B@iley's in your coffee because you were out of milk
! Of course you could always drink it black, LOL!

I wonder what Risotto made with Baileys would taste like (I don't think it would be for me... just extrapolating from coffee really
).
We finished off most of the salad last night but have loads of tomatoes (homegrown) that need freezing and a collection of cucumbers starting to go yellow (also from the garden). They will compost. About a third of an iceberg lettuce will go in egg sarnies for lunch and then I will make courgette soup for lunches going forward. DH made a delicious sourdough loaf using his new enamelled cast iron tin - really good crust. He will have to make about 150 loaves for it to pay for itself (compared to shop-bought!) though!!
I want to roast one of the autumn squashes we grew to go with supper tonight as we have about 20 and I have not cooked any yet!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

LOL - thanks for the giggle both - we now have groceries so no need for black coffee or exotic risotto!
We have found ourselves this week being 'adventurous' & trying out m@rks&spensive's ready prepared food!
So instead of making fish pie yesterday, we had one that was prepared - OH thought it was lovely, but I prefer the one from scratch! We did of course supplement with freshly steamed rainbow carrots from the veg box.
Tonight instead of pork steaks, we will have prepared ham hock but with homemade champ as usual.
Tomorrow will be prepared posh burgers en croute with oven fries.
Just a bit of a change to add some variety, thanks to heavily discounted items that presented themselves when I did a last minute change to the online shop! Not quite the yellow sticker adventures of years gone by, but still a bit of a culinary adventure!

Hi guys
i hope you don’t mind me joining in but when I saw this thread I realised this is how I cook all the time.
Tomorrow is shopping day so we were out of bread so for lunch we had a can of soup and then apple crumble and custard with 4 wrinkly eating apples stewed with oats mixed with sugar for the topping. Very filling. For tea we had veg stew made with frozen veg and onions, a stock cube, herbs and the oldest of the potato glut I have at the moment. I’m really enjoying autumn food.
I tend to eat what’s in the fridge first, then go on to the freezer and cans as a last resort or when I’m too busy or tired to cook.

Ooh yes, do join in @cuddlymarm, the more the merrier. Everyone is welcome - taking or giving ideas - they all save money and waste!
We had egg sandwiches, using up scraps of salad and some of the egg mountain (2 dozen a week with 6 or 12 going to other people when they need them). Then I forgot I was out last night until too late to cook. So we had courgette soup (that I made too late for lunch) using four courgettes (from the garden) sad carrots, homegrown onions and sweet potato. It's a favourite with a drizzle of cream.
I must get my act together re timing. It's this non-working thingSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Have got a couple of sad looking courgettes in the fridge, a couple of carrots so will chop and add to a tin of tomatoes and add a good pinch of dried chilli flakes (home grown chillies) and cook together until the carrots and courgettes are cooked and then blitz to make a Mediterrean sauce which I'll serve with salmon fillets from the freezer. Will also have some mini roast potatoes and green beans with it. Had something similar to this when I was away on holiday at a seafood restaurant and it was lovely - just hope mine tastes as good! Think the only difference is that I had samphire as well at the restaurant and I haven't got any of that.
