I missed the community lunch due to bees swarming yesterday (not mine) and four hours helping someone sort all their hives out, but the lovely women organising it sent Mr Sl home with 3 takeaway boxes - chicken curry with rice and cucumber raita (very tasty, no heat) - and a trifle - my second pudding (a ginger and lime cheesecake) went to Mr Sl as he knows (but they don't) that cheesecake is just not my thing. ANyway, happy days. No cooking!

    Not sure about today yet.

Well we were going to have something with mince but now we are having the chicken thighs that were £2.31 for 5 in the Coop when I went for milk. I refused to pay £1.75 (reduced!!) for a single layer of raspberries though! 😲

The turkey carcass got squished into a gap that was nearly big enough for it! Complications since returning have been spare bread - I bought a delicious sourdough while away from a favourite baker, we had half a loaf left over from breakfasts while camping, and then I got a Lil's free bakery item randomly, so claimed a Rye sourdough (not really sourdough but tasty) from that too…and of course the freezer was already full to bursting! Some of the posh sourdough and the leftover bread got used over the weekend, MrEH created a little bit of space by eating lunch from the freezer when I was out yesterday, and then I got ruthless last night and got out anything I could think of for the next couple of days, and JUST managed to cram the bread into the gaps!

Tonight will be pasta with turkey and previously roasted veg, the sauce will be soft cheese I think.

Tomorrow is planned to be the usual couscous - probably with halloumi and assorted veg, I've got some roast mushrooms out of the freezer for that.

Puddings for me this week will look like fruit compote with skyr I think - I bet we can all guess where the compote came from!

Need to freezer-dive again tomorrow for wednesday night's tea, although I may yet turn the easter parsnips into soup then we can use up some of the bread for toast to have alongside!

Turned out to be 6 chicken thighs in that YS chicken pack so Mr Sl had two to my one last night and I shall make the rest into a pie ready for this evening, or later in the week. I used all five leeks up - 3 in L&P soup with celery and the Easter parsnips (and some of the said milk I went for), while the other two went in a simple casserole with the chicken thighs, served with the baby corn, carrots and potatoes.

That's excellent YS'd value isn't it! Nice one!

MrEH tells me he will be making lunchtime rolls today so I'll need to do another round of freezer tetris this evening! I need to be more brutal about just finding a thing and then creating a use for it I think. The bigger batches of mince might do simple burgers for tomorrow served with salad - that would also deal with some of a pack of olio rolls as well. At some point later in the week curry and rice will be on the agenda too - there's three tubs of curry in the depths somewhere!
