Afternoon all - RT, you feeling better now?
I got a box of the pretzels on friday, immediately popped two in the oven as it had just been on for rolls when I got home, and will now be buying more if they still have them on Friday! Wow - HOW nice?!
I need a plan for the week - the good news is that my hastily done shop on friday cost just over £21 including the pretzels. The bad news is that as a result of our train home last night being delayed nearly an house, I don't yet have a meal plan for the week. I did think to get out fish for either a quick fish pie or a thai fish stew this evening - undecided which yet. Tomorrow is easy as it will be couscous (of course!) and then I need to think about the remainder of the week. I could do double mash tonight and then get liver out for later in the week, mind - it's chilly enough to make liver & bacon sound most tempting! All being well we're out at pals on Thursday so that's at least one evening I don't need to think about!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Menu plan gone west this week! DH decided to invite DD1 and her partner for dinner yesterday so no LO pork for more meals! Was going to be cold pork, chips and beans tonight and sweet and sour pork tomorrow.
Now it's going to be egg, chips and beans tonight and sweet and sour chicken tomorrow using some chicken thighs from the freezer!

So in theory we have a meal plan but we had so many bits and pieces in the fridge we've cobbled together meals for yesterday and today.
Yesterday we had leftover valentine's pasta, roasted veg, steamed tatsoi and leftover shake and bake chicken.
Tonight we've had free bistro salad from MrL with surf'n'turf and oven fries. We had a small rump steak and two small pieces of salmon so shared the lot. A free cheese pastry from MrL for afters.
Tomorrow might be some pasta and sprouting broccoli to finish up the lot that is in there.
Feels good to have cooking at a minimum so far this week.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! We are having left over lamb tonight after resorting to posh fish fingers, oven chips and peas last night. I do still plan to mince it but I have more to do out and about first, so it could yet end up as part of a salad. I also bought a loaf of bread while out this morning. £4! - mind you, it is a posh artisan sourdough from mas. Afternoon all - Monday's fish pie was such a lovely treat, although MrEH doesn't want to start thinking he'll get fish pie on a Monday all that often! I did have the sense to cook double mash though, which means that tonight's liver, bacon & onions have an accompaniment already sorted! I'll probably do the remains of the broccoli with that I think.
Dragged a tub of leftover roast beef chunks out of the freezer to go with last night's couscous - with the veg being a mix of chick peas, mushrooms and red pepper.
I actually don't need to give any thought to tomorrow which is a bit of a joy - we're out at pals, and as there will be beer involved I'm kind of hoping there is also food of some sort! Might grab something snacky when I leave the office to be safe.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@Teaparty_mum - of course hun! - SL has a very open virtual kitchen - the doors are always wide open 😉
@EssexHebridean - thanks for asking hun - I forgot to answer, but yes mostly back to 'normal' or what passes for normal 🤣🤣🤣
So last night was not pasta & broc as I'd forgotten about the long awaited orthodontic appt! I was very sore so we had noodle soup which was mostly liquid and warm. Today has been soft things for breakfast and lunch, everything tastes a bit strange though! Tonight will be either leftover pasta or leftover noodle soup - a low effort, low cook week so far!
On Tuesday we popped into MrL for some eggs and discovered that they were doing a massive inventory check and had also marked down all kinds of fresh meat to 50% off! We stocked up on pork shoulder steaks as with the discount, they amounted to what they cost pre-crazy-inflation prices. At 50p a piece, we have a meat drawer full for future meals. I'm wondering if this is something they do regularly on a Tuesday, so I'm going to try and pop in for eggs next week and have a scout around as well.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Oh yes, @Teapartymum, as @rtandon27 says, everyone is welcome to join in on this thread; you can pick our brains, offer advice, just report what you are having - anything a bit MSE goes really.
Over here I defrosted a bag of sausages I bought on offer, split and froze, and DH made his lovely mash, and we had that with carrots, slightly sad broccoli, and brussels sprouts. I still have a few brussels left that I plan to blanch and freeze today.
We have 3 tons of 20m gravel coming today so the timing of everything is a bit flexible. I prepped the remaining two leeks and too many potatoes for last night, so I might make a small batch of L&P soup. I'm pretty sure there are 3-4 sticks of celery left which are a good addition, and half a large onion, still lurking in the fridge in a plastic bag. I don't make it with milk. Instead I put about a dessert spoonful of cream in the cup for a bit of loveliness at the end. It keeps better with no dairy tooSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
