To be honest if it was in a garage and not worth much more than the premium I’d be tempted.

this lock down is costing me a mint in delivery charges and food prices as we used to buy from Aldi.
You can still go to Aldi, they are all open.

Still think moving VED onto fuel makes sense.
So do I as it covers all sorts of issues: tax is based on actual emissions (via fuel consumption so speeding/badly maintained/modified cars pay more), it's impossible to avoid (you need to put in fuel).
I even suggested it to my MP years ago but he claimed that'd be unfair on the haulage industry, though I could never figure out why.

i think its because the haulage pay about £1000 per lorry, though that was a figure i saw some years ago somewhere. so im guessing any increase in fuel duty would increase there fuel costs considerably. which means this sort of stuff needs moving to freight trains then local haulers pick it up from the train yards. once they start putting the old rail lines back in they ripped out in the 60's using the money from scrapping HS2.
yeah not gonna happen is it.
anyway cant see putting VED on fuel is gonna increase the per L price by more than maybe 10p. which it goes up and down by sometimes anyway. unless the MP was thinking they could hike it by more and therefore screw drivers for more than they would pay in VED.

also it should be cheaper for the GOV to run as they can close the VED section of the DVLA and the police wouldnt need to chase people for non payment.

There's no reason you couldn't factor the VED into the fuel price and give haulage companies some kind of rebate or payment card. It'd still be cheaper to administer than the current mechanism.
