"Do you mean that your phone connects to your WiFi while you are at home, but it does not connect to mobile data on Three, anywhere..?"
yes, that's correct. I've been with Three with the same phone for over 2 years and everything was working one day, then it stopped working. Not sure the exact day as I've been in the house most of the time but not more a couple of days before I called Three.
I had checked all settings, removed and re-inserted sim, switched roaming on and off, basically followed steps, I found on similar problems on a number of websites TNA, then I contacted Three, who also asked me to try a few things and gave up, in the end, to look into it further and that's where the story's at, at the moment.

Can you try your sim in a different phone to see if the problem persists?

Thanks. I don't have a spare phone. Factory reset will be the last resort although I'm not ready to press that nuclear button yet. My friend mentioned she had a similar issue and it was a network issue rather than a handset issue. Her provider had to do change something at their end.

    Update - Problem solved!
I had downloaded an app called My Data Manager to monitor my data usage. it uses a VPN . Once I deleted this app, it started working again.

    So it was your fault.
