Anyone managed to get a refund from TICKETMASTER?

I have had one event cancelled and another one postponed.  I have friends in similar positions.  None of us have had refunds from Ticketmaster.  Not that many events have been cancelled - most have been postponed.  Should not be difficult to issue refunds for the cancelled events. I suspect that they are delaying refunds to hang on to money for as long as possible so I thought I would ask - anyone out there entitled to a refund and actually had one?

Another point regarding postponed (not cancelled) events.  I had an email from Ticketmaster saying "here is the new date and if you can't make it then you can re-sell your tickets on our site".  No mention of a refund.  This is nonsense - I checked the terms and conditions and clause 11 states clearly that if an event is postponed you can request a refund and get the face value of the tickets PLUS booking fees back, but TM can keep the postage costs.  I pointed this out to them and they said yes OK you can have a refund - but not yet.  That was about 10 days ago.

With the hardship ahead that people are facing if TM are sitting on refunds then this needs to be flagged up and pressure applied.

  • Ticketmaster aren't great at the moment, I'm surprised there hasn't been more comment on it, although I suppose under the circumstances most people have more pressing priorities. It'll likely happen at some point in the future.

I'm quite a patient person and understand that companies need money as much as possible as we don't want them all folding and laying off workers, however it's the general lack of communication that's annoying me.

I had tickets for London Theatre for the 28th & 29th of March. I took out ticketmaster insurance when I booked.

Quite quickly I had an email saying that the second show had been cancelled, and that refunds would be processed but that due to the high number we had to be patient. (fair enough). I got this email twice on the 18th of March. Then on the 19th of March I got an email saying 'You've got a booking for April, as we receive information we'll update you straight away'. Now I don't have a booking for April, so this one was a bit of a surprise, possibly a mistake and should have said March? Then the next day I got a third email telling me that my second show was cancelled. Still nothing specific about the first show, (which was three times more expensive than the other one I might add).

And that's the last I heard. No refund has come through for show 2, and no confirmation or communication at all for show 1.
If i'd had something to let me know what's going on I wouldn't mind, I know for concerts people have had offers of exchanges instead of refunds, but I haven't even had anything of that sort. I don't know whether to try claiming on the insurance, but I fear they may say that because Ticketmaster should be refunding they won't touch it. It also doesn't help that Ticketmaster theatre tickets don't go into the 'my bookings' section on the website, so you don't get updates that way either.
Going to try contacting them again and will update if I have any joy.
  • I have tried on 3 occasions to get a refund for 2 tickets. On both occasions I received a generic response and on the 3rd attempt they said there is nothing they can do. I understand there are more pressing issues, however these people are are still working and are just point blank refusing to make it easy for a refund. This money could be a lifeline at the moment for those who have lost jobs etc. If the show has been postponed or cancelled an option to get a refund should be there immediately!! Is there anything i can do to speed up the process? I have to be honest this has put me off using Ticketmaster ever again.
  • Wonder if someone can give me advice please?
Im getting the runaround from Ticketmaster. The account I purchased some event tickets on is now closed. Firstly Ticketmaster said they did not take the money in March 2019 as it was pending on my account. I got a statement from my old bank clearly showing the money leaving my account and forwarded this on to TM. Then they came back(a week later) and said they sent the money to my bank who will be holding it for me in one of their holding accounts. The bank confirmed that they and other bank return monies to sender on closed accounts. TM then gave me a ARN No: which the bank traced (my refund of £525) but was returned TM on 18th March 2020, the bank provided me with a letter stating such. TM have said that it has not been returned as yet and i should speak to my bank! Do I have any recourse I can take

I feel your pain. Tell me just out of curiosity, is the response signed off as Callum M? I have 19 emails since 14th March all signed off by Callum, sterling stuff if that lad is holding the fort all by himself...

I am in a similar situation. The account I purchased some event tickets, (Debit card) has now closed as well. I emailed TM and they too gave me an ARN no. My local Bank Branch are adamant they haven't had any such payment. I'm about to reply to TM, so I'll see what response I get. I'm also checking with my new bank to see if anything has been transferred to them.
  • Have had a successful refund from Ticketmaster for an event in London cancelled in April. Your issues appear to stem from closed bank accounts & contact details rather than issues with Ticketmaster trying to process refunds.

Yes. The 2020 concert was postponed until 2021. Once the 2021 event was officially cancelled received email saying that refund would be issued in due course. Which it was a little later.  Required no action on my part.
