im pretty sure the G means you are in a GPRS enabled area, but im not sure what the E means (are you sure it's not the 'G' icon?)
  • The G is GPRS (Data) and if it shows E it means that you can access 02's edge, data which is 4 times faster than GPRS.

Basically it means you can access the internet (G) or access it quicker (E)

Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) is a digital mobile phone technology which acts as a bolt-on enhancement to 2G and 2.5G GPRS networks. It can carry data speeds up to 384 kbit/s in packet mode and will therefore meet the International Telecommunications Union's requirement for a 3G network.
  • With regard to some of the newer Nokia's i.e: 2310, 2610 etc the newer ones are DCT4+ with does need to be unlocked using unlocking equipment such as Uni-Box, Jaf, MTBOx etc
  • Permit me to ask a dumb question

What phones can be currently bought as new and can be unlocked via code?

Seems there are v. few models that now can?!

    Thank you in advance
