I was laid of work am I entitled to the 80%

I was employed in full time work but they didn't give me a contract only a temp 3 month one zero hrs ,but I've been employed for 15 months , on the morning of 20th March I was told my services was no longer required cause all work was stopped but this was before the government offered the 80% to all employees I've ask my employer but no answer back I'm trying everything I can to claim but no answers r coming clear , am I entitled to the 80 % thanks gary

    Only entitled if they furloughed you rather than laying you off.

    AFAIK there is no obligation for your employer to furlough you to get the 80% wages. It’s possible that your employer is simply very busy and trying to make sense of employment law they’ve never used before and aspects which just didn’t exist last week

    in the short term
    - get mortgage or rent payment holidays
    - talk to other creditors to see what they can do
    - try to reduce or postpone other bills
    - if you need to claim universal credit

    No.
    The government has announced a Job Retention Scheme in the hope employers wioll not lay off staff.
    It sounds like your employer has oped to lay you off, not least presumably because it was only a 3m contract and you were on zero hours anyway.

    Look for a new job. Lots of businesses recruiting right now to meet demand.
    Think food chain roles where demand is up 50% on normal

    Usual benefits system remains in place for those able and willing to work, but are unable to find employment.
