New York in August - deposit paid - should we pay the balance ?
In the current Covid 19 crisis if we pay the balance but cannot go due to one of us catching it...will we lose our money ? If Virgin still aren't flying and we've paid the balance will we get refunded ? Or, should we not pay the balance and delay going until all this has blown over, will we get our deposit back or will it go towards the future trip ? New York looks to be in a bad way at the mo. Thanks.

Holidays from June 2020In line with the advice from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, all trips booked from June onwards are unaffected. If this changes, we will of course be in touch with you.
If you choose to not pay the balance then you lose whatever the terms and conditions state for cancelling at this point in time

I would wait until a few days before it is due in a minimum of 4 weeks as any advice as to what to do now is completely worthlessCaz3121 said:https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2020/02/coronavirus-travel-help-and-your-rights/

You shouldn't loose any money your holiday insurance should cover anything that is not refunded.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I would not pay the deposit, unless you have a crystal ball that can tell you what the position in NY will be come May.
People are not taking this seriously, we have no idea wat is going to happen.
The US have not had a peak in death/sickness etc. Until they reached that peak, it's best to cancel.
I believe come May the travel ban will still be in place.

Your lack of travel insurance is a serious oversight and could cost you dearly. You should always take it out at the same time as booking your holiday as cover starts from that moment. Purchasing it now is not going to help you much in terms of Covid 19 but you should do in any case because other circumstances could arise which force you to cancel.Deleted_User said:

Under the circumstances all you can do is wait until the balance is due in May and see what the situation is like then.0 -
