Surely if he is on anti-depressants he shouldn't be having alcohol? That is what I got told 2/3 years ago - or just the odd glass of wine here and there.

You know that and I know that. However, the doctor has said to him that if he wants to do something that makes him feel better, even if it is having a few drinks then he should rather than stay home and feel deprived. If the doc says that, nothing I say will convince him otherwise.

    Hi Milly

Wow! I was browsing MSE and came across your thread by chance and started to read - from the beginning. Exactly 1 1/2 hours later (without even a break to make a cuppa, I was so engrossed) I have finished and am up to date. Your story is and has been quite fascinating. I think your BF is very lucky to have such a hard-working (that commute must kill you!) savvy lass. Life may be tough right now (sorry to hear he has lost his job, that sucks) but me thinks you will get through it and come out the other end smiling. To move cross county and to achieve what you have so far, you deserve a pat on the back.

Anyway, just wanted to wish you luck on your journey through life. Hope things get better for you.

    Happy Christmas!

PS. I've enjoyed your diary so much I have subscribed to your thread xx

    Hi Ember, and thanks!

It's great to have someone say well done, I really appreciate your thoughts. I think OH does appreciate me, but often forgets to say it.

Thanks for subscribing as well. It is always nice to know that what you have bothered to write (even if mainly for yourself) is being read and enjoyed. Hang tight, as I am determined that 2009 is going to be a better year!

  • I think I should keep a proper paper diary. For example, tonight I need to send back an insurance certificate, email a couple of invoices and call a hotel/restaurant. I know I will have forgotten by the time I get home though. I think the only way I will be able to write things down at work and then follow them up at home (and vice versa) is the adult equivalent of a homework diary. Maybe I should get OH to sign it as well to show the teacher that it has been done? :rotfl:

Tonight dinner is baked potatoes with frozen chilli for him and cheese for me. We have a freezer full of food, so it makes no sense to go buy any more before we have used up some other stuff. Tomorrow he is having 'christmas leftover pig 'n' cheese 'n' cauliflower a la shepherds pie' (a milly what-have-I-got-sitting-around production :o ) and I am having leftover indian takeaway I froze months ago.

Will also trek to the next town tomorrow after work to see if there is anything part-time for me or full-time for him in the supermarkets there. Have plans that we will both take a course in the new year to allow a wider range of extra work to be available, but that is not until the second half of January.

So that is today's plan, just watch it change tomorrow!

Thanks Ember, but I think a LJ would just be another thing I forget to update!

Feeling really cack today. Woke up a bit late, so had to head out quick. Car was frozen, so I had to climb in through the boot to get past the frozen door locks. Even then, I would have made the late train, apart from the fact that I realised when I was almost at the train station that I had left my handbag at home. The temptation when I got home to just phone in sick was huge.

I didn't though, I phoned in to see if I could use the spare carpark space today. Apparently not. One of our sales guys is coming in today, and despite the fact that he can claim his parking tickets back on expenses, despite the fact that I will have to pay petrol to get in, despite my OH being unemployed and me not even being able to afford to eat, the sales guy is going to use the space so I have to pay for a space elsewhere for about £8+.

Feeling very homesick, and generally just fighting back tears at the mo. Have a funeral to go to tomorrow as well. I have never been to one before, and am not really looking forward to it. Anyway, need to get back to work.

Ok, I am asking everyone, ever, to keep your fingers crossed. Him indoors had a job interview today and will find out next week if he has the job.

  • He got the job! He got the job! (Does little happy  :j  dance)

I took today off work, and there was a call about half 9 that we missed. (disgraceful, having a lie-in and everything) When he managed to get through to the guy again, he told him to get his !!!! in as he starts today! Yay!

Still on a massive high, as this is so positive. He sold an old bike on ebay yesterday as well, which will really help!

    Happy Happy Milly!

Ok, firstly I need to apologise for not updating in ages. With Him Indoors working long hours, I have been doing more housework (shock horror) and combined with trying to apply myself more at work and the stuff I have been doing with the brownies and guides, I just haven't had the time.

So with that out the way, I can say we are doing quite well. Himself seems to be settling in to his job in fits and bursts. Enjoys the actual job, but isn't so keen on the alcoholic area manager, or the guy above him who adores telling OH that 'I've been doing this for 25 years.' Well since OH has been doing this off and on for about 18 years, but would rather not sell anything than rip someone off, there is a bit of friction between my honest OH and the consummate salesman two layers above him!

I am ever so slightly nervous though. It always seems that as soon as things start coming together, something goes wrong! I just wish Him Indoors would actually like his job, as I have this nagging concerned that he will just fly off the handle and quit again, or get himself fired. I get tired of being the one that has to hold it all together. I want to know that if I got made redundant or anything, Himself would be able to back me up the way I back him up. I guess I feel he has to prove to me that he can be a bit more responsible than he has been in the last year.

So, I now need to get cracking back on with the debt-free target. I have had a very tidy £140 come through from Quidco this month, and need to get in an expenses claim for mileage at work which will give me a nice £200 boost. Must find the MOT certificate today! I also need to get a new motorbike helmet this weekend. My train season ticket runs out in early April, and I really don't want to get another one for the following reasons:
    - It costs £3,196 a year
    - I will be tied in to working in Leeds
    - I will be tied in to working for my current company for another year if I lose the original ticket again. (The train company will not refund a replacement ticket if you lose the original.)
    - Going to work by motorbike will be cheaper and probably quicker.

This will also help with paying off the debt, as I reckon I will save at least £100 a month on this. Plus I will not be stuck in town if the train is too full (gggrrrrr) or I miss it by seconds, or it is randomly cancelled etc etc.

So anyway, I think I have rambled enough, and should go and find my MOT certificate and get some soup on the go!
