lyric_grace - Thanks! I kinda think I am starting to do well as well now!
peb - Oooh, I hadn't really thought about it. When, and where (Leeds, obviously!) ? I wouldn't have moved up north if I didn't think northerners were great! :rotfl:
So today I have got my new allowance. Hoping to not blow it all this weekend, which should be do-able. Going camping and the only real expenses will be a bottle of wine or something.
Also got some expenses back from the village fete. £40.50, with the 50p going into johnny, and the remainder going towards the card. £15 has now arrived into citi as well, so it is time to adjust my sig again, yay!OD £lots Egg Card £329.04 Parents £650 Sofa £741.780 -
Otley, on the 6th September - there is a thread somewhere.
Umm - wine - I have 5 bottles in the car but never remember to put one in the fride. I amy be tempted to buy a chilled bottle from the Co-op now!0 -
Could I possibly have picked a better weekend for camping?! I even have a tan! (Normally I am naturally goth-white, and working in an office, a tan is hard to come by.) I cooked carrot and coriander soup for the veggies in the end, and it went down really well.
However, I did manage to spend most of my allowance. Bought a blanket and a scarf, and also bought lunch both days. Could have been worse though, still had about £7 left on Sunday night.
In the meantime, I have Quidco'd a PayDay Loan, which is tracking nicely and should net me £40, plus the interest that I earn on the money while it sits in my account! :rotfl:
Tonight I must find out when OH's cousin's wedding is, so that we can book a hotel room and get that sorted. Sometime in September, but not sure when. Going to book a couple of days at a place I love at the same time to celebrate my birthday. Yay!
Also looks like we are still not being charged for our water. Will definately have to call up the water board and check that, as it seems wrong to me. I know they did refund us a little a few months back, but I am starting to wonder if they will send us a big bill at the end of the year.
Not sure if I will be able to make the Leeds DFW meet, as it seems there is a lot on in September. Typical.
Peb - Did you end up buying more wine? Put a bottle in the fridge now, ready for Friday night. It will be well and truely chilled by then!OD £lots Egg Card £329.04 Parents £650 Sofa £741.780 -
OH NO! I miscalculated the date I would start paying interest on citi! The bar-stewards have charged me a whole £2! Admittedly it is not a big amount, but I am a bit miffed at myself for letting it happen. So I have bitten the bullet and paid the last off just now. Just got to wait for the payment to clear now.
I did get a till-spit from Tesco the other days though. Not had one before, so seems like a bit of an acheivement! We are saving up our clubcard points at the mo to use for deals at a later time, and we already have over 1100 this quarter. Should be well on target!
So in total, I have cleared an extra £173.07 off the card this month, which hasn't come from my wages. Another £170 has come from the money I kept back from the mortgage account as it wasn't needed. At this point, when my egg DD goes out, I will have paid off £480.12, or 13.65% of my debt this month.
I am pretty happy with that anyway, but it gets better. If I don't need the money at the end of my budget by the end of the month, or buy a new motorcycle helmet, there will be an extra £180.49 to come off the total. That would be a full 18.78%, in one month! Not going to worry about that though, I think I have done well so far anyway.
So I think tonight can involve the half-bottle of wine I have sitting in the fridge!OD £lots Egg Card £329.04 Parents £650 Sofa £741.780 -
Hiya
Wine - I was good. I put cider in the freezer (westons organic!) when I got home from work and by the time I cooked it was nice and cold. It also means that I don't drink a whole bottle of wine by myself; the friend who came round was a lager drinker so I got rid of 5 bottles of stella that had been hangoing around since April.
Glad you had a good weekend - keep an eye on the Leeds website as there are free events. Last weekend was Opera in the Park and Party in the Park. Don't know how easy it is for you to get into Leeds but they do have quite a few freebies,
Shame if you can't come to the meet - Smashed was talking possibly of meeting for coffee or similar; I'm in Bradford. Maybe you would be interested?0 -
Really pleased to see your progress Milly. Even 10% in a month is above the 12 month target.:j0

Hey Peb,
I sometimes do that, pop a bottle in the freezer in an emergency. Admittedly, I have also on one occasion forgotten the bottle and it made the wine taste funny. OH is a big drinker of lager, so it is an acheivement if it lasts 4 days, let alone 4 months!
Leeds is very easy for me. I commute here to work by train, so extra trips to Leeds centre are free! I will have to have a look at the Leeds website, as I didn't know about that.
The meet-up will definately be out, as the wedding is on the 6th. I will be busy pretending to be respectable in front of OH's family in Gloucestershire!Meeting up for a coffee however sounds good.
KP,
Thanks! I am really impressed with how this month has gone. I know it will not be something that I can keep up, as I don't expect refunds and overtime again, but it seems like a really good start.:j
My extra £40 payment has now cleared from citi, so the balance is only £228.66, and that payment has left my current account. I guess in some ways it is a bit mad to keep making these little payments bit by bit, rather than just jumping in at the start of the month and going for it, but I prefer to keep track this way.
Rent money has arrived in the mortgage account as well, so that should clear nicely in time to be taken out again by the mortgage DD. :rotfl:
I have a confession as well today. Due to a morning comedy of errors, I did not manage to make my sandwich to bring for lunch. As a result, I have pilfered £1 from OH's change pot so I can afford a sarnie with my last pound. I admit, I have sinned and blown the week's budget. (Admittedly though, this will make up for the pound that went AWOL into OH's pocket last weekhehehe )
Happy Thursday everyone!

I'm trying to work that £1 out!
I know what you mean about being disorganised re sarnies - there were two days the other week when I ended up with buttered bread rolls and out of date Salt and Vinegar crisps.
NB - have friends round to dinner tonight and remembered to put wine and cider in fridge before coming to work0 -
Lunches this week have been a bit bizarre I have to admit. I have ended up with ryevitas and cheese on two occasions, and potato salad leftovers at one point! Think I will have to make sure I make a quiche or something over the weekend to freeze for next week.OD £lots Egg Card £329.04 Parents £650 Sofa £741.780

Good morning all!
I think I may have made a breakthrough this weekend! It is Sunday morning, I have no plans to go out today, and I still have £10 in my purse. My allowance has lasted more than 2 days! OMG! :rotfl:
OH was in Leeds on Friday, so I took us out for lunch, (takeaway sarnies in the park) which was £6.50 ish. Then Yesterday I bought Indian takeaway for dinner as a treat. We haven't had takeaway for months. Also got a bottle of raspberry wine that I didn't even open. Saturday morning is food shopping day, so there was no room in the fridge for my wine!
Also managed to sweet-talk the thresher cashier into letting me take home one of the stella artois chalice glasses. OH dropped his on the stairs on the way to the kitchen the other week and his life hasn't been the same since. They took pity on me and let me have one free! Brilliant, as it saves me getting him one off ebay for the extortionate prices people charge.
Have also started taking steps to get decluttered. I want to have the house looking neat for Christmas, and somehow when OH and I moved in together, we brought a lot of clutter. It doesn't help that there is a lot of skanky furniture, as we have rented the place furnished, but I am trying to make the best of it. So I have sorted out the piles of paperwork that were marauding around the lounge, and have just started putting some bits and bobs on freecycle. I have some folders that need to live at work, as they are no use here, so they will be going in a bag by the front door. Generally just need to get rid of lots of rubbish!
Think that will do for today's rant!OD £lots Egg Card £329.04 Parents £650 Sofa £741.780
