Hi everyone, Bella, what a worry for you, I shall be thinking about your daughter and all the other frontline staff. Redruby, I think he should be able to get a note as your carer, I hope so anyway, my anxiety levels have gone down since I decided not to go out at all and I realised it was because I was worried about passing the virus on to Steve if I got it. The family have been keeping in touch and we have been getting lots of videos of Esben to entertain us. I have decided to send them a photo of our evening meals - that could get interesting as time goes on - last night it was kedgeree. I had a phone call from the physio (I had an appointment this morning but they changed them all to phone appointments. My shoulder is a great deal better thankfully.
BellaB I shall be thinking of you every day and sending your DD "keep safe thoughts". Your DD is a HEROINE for her actions.
I was glad to see the back of yesterday, it turned into a disaster ending with me returning from a lovely quiet bath to find Mr Fix It on all fours on the floor With my heart racing and heart attacks running through my mind..........I find he's just lost the TV remote ! Silly man.
We are not lumberjacking today as Mr Fix It still has a vibration in his shoulder from the power tools. So the WM is on and I have a towel wash to go next, I'll throw my dressing gown in too as somehow I have jam down the front of it. How could I miss this mouth ?. I have to reinstate the whirly before I can hang anything out, as it was removed just in case a tree decided to fall the wrong way, which most of them did.
We have sorted our medication ( thank goodness ) with the lovely receptionist from the pharmacy, but they and the surgery are running 3 days behind because of the demand. No chance of delivery though, but we are hoping DD will be better, out of isolation and able to collect. If not I will go wearing the new visor ( made from acetate ) and mask, failing that it will be Mr Fix It's welding visor and his darth vader mask That should scare the queue away !
This afternoon I want to clear out the gardening / caravan stuff shed as the old cover seems to have sprung to life and it's difficult to get through the door without mountaineering over it now. I hope there are no big spiders in it ( shudder ). There was a heck of a rumpus from Mr Fix It's shed yesterday when I went in to get the axe, one of the local cats was in there doing a recon. I don't know who was the most shocked when we came face to face I backed out to give him/her some room to exit, sharply !
Nelski sorry you had a wobble yesterday, but good on you for your volunteering work for the NHS. We will have to compare tans with the paint chart
ILC DD and the other teachers will only have about 150 children in total from 4 schools, so they have said it will probably be only 1 day each.
Camelot could they not do it on a rota for the back room staff ?
Scarlett you are lucky to have such a lovely neighbour
Dumpling still thinking about Jesse and you of course.
Special hugs to all and to those whose children are working in the front line please tell them "thank you " from the bottom of my heart. I still worry about DD and SiL, even if they are only doing 1 day a week, I just wish they were home tucked up and safe. Our local hospital are taking more young people into intensive care than older ones at present.
Take care and stay safe all
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently
Afternoon all...well pooped after yesterday so a vetr long and apparently very loudly snoring sleep was the key...More of the same in a minute, working that is, not sleeping...
Yes, it's extremely worrying, the thing you have to remember too is viral load, so if you come into contact with one person who has it, viral load of one, come into contact with several, viral load magnified beyond reasonable [ not that one is reasonable either]. I think that's the reason so many frontline staff get it. Not the happiest post in terms of Bellas family, but it might help explain to others. A friend is working as a nurse and they have had to set up a corridor as a hot area for people and one of her doctors has been confirmed with it. This is in a local surgery, not in a hospital where you might expect it. She said she still don't think people really get it, about staying home....It really brings home how selfless some people are, that despite the fear of the virus, they are still out there helping others. She quoted me facts and figures on recovery this morning in China, so I had to tell her, I don't care about China, I care about you. Because I'm not selfless. I care about MY group of people [ which includes all of you and your families]. I don't have the capacity to care about anyone else except in the sense that I generally care, but in a completely unfocused way, I wouldn't wish them harm but I wouldn't be putting myself out there for them unless they turned up on my doorstep. And then they'd have to have a bleach bath before anything else. I will keyboard warrior the f**k out of helping though. In local groups and beyond.
I shut down the Freecycle group I run because it's unnecessary travel and no one is desperate for a ironing board only to be met with abusive e-mails saying, yeah, but, we can post stuff....And I was sorely tempted to write back, so, you can magically appear and disappear in a post office where you are not supposed to be anyway except in an emergency? People are just herd-like stupid. There's no getting away from it. And there is always one to egg to the others on.
And on that happy note....back to smashing concrete for me, it's anger release anyway On the plus side, there are more birds singing because we can hear them now more clearly and the magpies are colonising the front garden because they can.....
I hope you all keep safe. We will survive Wednesday
