Hotel cancelled

You don't have a consumer right to demand that a foreign hotel shuts down. If they're still trading I expect that's because other guests are able to travel there.Robste84 said:
Well not exactly. I was able to go my flight was cancelled. Is it not irresponsible to remain open when nobody can make the trip! Consumer rights?Sounds more like it's you who can't deliver yourself to the service! If they were actually closed you'd have a point.1 -
They can provide the service. All you need to do is get yourself there.Robste84 said:
It's all part of the house insurance package travel and home. I'm not saying these points arent valid but legally can they charge for a service that cant be provided. I really dont fancy claiming on my insurance for something that I dont see as my fault. Thousands of people must be in a similar situation.Caz3121 said:house insurance will not help. You mention not taking 'cancellation insurance' but do you have travel insurance?

How can they provide a service if it's under government directive that nobody travels. Its locked down? Defeats the purpose?0

I'm not sure which government directive you're talking about, but if the hotel is open for business that would suggest that people in the Netherlands are not prohibited from travelling to and staying in the hotel.Robste84 said:How can they provide a service if it's under government directive that nobody travels. I'm not sure why you are having trouble understanding this situation? The hotel is in Amsterdam and hotels are allowed to remain open and people are allowed to go there and stay:Robste84 said:How can they provide a service if it's under government directive that nobody travels. So if the hotel is open and available to stay at then the hotel don't need to refund you, this is the reason that you have travel insurance in place and should claim off that.3 -
Yes but the whole city is locked down the same as here. No gatherings, no pubs, no cafes, no museums etc. Your not going to pop to amsterdam to enjoy staying in the hotel for 4 nights are you!0
-
That makes no difference at all, you paid the hotel for use of the room for 4 nights and that is exactly what they are still offering.Robste84 said:Yes but the whole city is locked down the same as here. Correct but how is that right. It's not any different to all of the air b&b places you can still book!!! Is that the same thing and should it be allowed?0
-
Now you're making yourself look stupid5
-
What's stupid about the situation? It's stupid to stay open when nobody can travel to you!0
