A vast simplification of the hurdles (including the cost) that need to be over come in order to be licenced and operate as a "bank".flower77g said:
If G Ltd has Part 4A Permission it would be regulated by PRA. And if it did not have that permission, could PRA take action?1 -
So would an organization (G Ltd in the example) that has missed these hurdles be subject to regulation? Because if so, it leaves open the possibility of anyone who finds they have taken out such arrangements with G Ltd making a complaint to the regulator.Thrugelmir said:A vast simplification of the hurdles (including the cost) that need to be over come in order to be licenced and operate as a "bank".

We had a holiday cottage booked for 2nd May. Sykes offered for us to cancel, which we have done. However we have only had the money due to go to the homeowner refunded. Syke’s charges (20% of rental) plus admin fees have been credited to our online account, to be used in the next 24 months. We want a full refund as we can’t afford to have £150 of our money locked away for this time and have no intention of ever booking with Sykes again as their response to this pandemic has been appalling. We have holiday insurance and paid by credit card, but neither will pay out if we have an online credit. Help!

What are the terms of the credit? Does it say they can be exchanged for a proper refund at any point?1
-
No, cannot be exchanged for any credit. Only put towards another holiday. 😡0

Letter before action and then small claims. Will take months though.1

@Aylesbury_Duck thank you for the advice. Have already emailed declining the account credit and requesting a full refund, but have had no response. One more thing to worry about. 😩0

I'd write them a letter, which mentions that you be contacting bbc's watchdog and other consummer pages, if the money owed is not paid promptly. Including the link I find in an email tends to get them to pay up.

What the credit card company told you isn't correct.
Have you got a written proof of their rejection?
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

I would support putting all future correspondence in writing, and sent via Royal Mail. Keep a copy for yourself, and date all the correspondence.1
