"Your account stays the same. It's just the account type that changes"I'm afraid it doesn't, I've now opened an Everyday current account and it's just given me a new (additional) account number and sort code.
Jeez, I just want to close my 123 account. Maybe they'll have more contact services available in the future but it's hopeless at the moment.
Still at least I'm not in the position of trying to negotiate a mortgage holiday or some such.

You can't 'upgrade' to an Everyday Current Account online but you can upgrade to a 123 Lite online.0 -
I hit the "Upgrade current account" button which took me to the page to open an "Everyday account". It would have done the same thing if I'd selected the 123 lite account. All available online.

The difference is you can click on 'transfer a Santander account' if you go to upgrade to 123 Lite.

I wasn't given this option on my desktop. Are you using an App?

All available online.Hi,when you hit upgrade button it takes you to another page and Everyday account is at the top, if you had scrolled down you would've got other options.I initiated an 'upgrade' on Saturday from123 to 123 Lite and got this message on Sunday:You now have a 1|2|3 Lite Current Account We’re pleased to confirm that your application was successful and the transfer is now complete. You don't need to do anything All your details have been transferred to your new 1l2l3 Lite Current Account. These include your account number, Direct Debits and standing orders and you can continue to use your existing debit card and chequebook. So that was quick.

Hi, could I just ask of those that have already done it, do/can you select the specific account you want to 'upgrade' to lite on a later screen, i.e if you've got more than one current account and only want to change one? Thanks in advance0

Sorry, can't help you AlwaysLearnin. Hope you got sorted in the end. I just wanted to update that although the secure messaging is still not available and I didn't have a "Chat with us" function button displayed when I logged onto my account on my desktop, I did today get through on the phone to successfully close both accounts down. I rang 0800 9 123 123. Can't remember what number I was ringing before but the automated response closes you down unless you require specific assistance for certain queries which didn't include account closure. Anyway, just posting this in case it helps anyone else. Or maybe it's just me!1
