Completion imminent but will removal companies be working?

We have exchanged contracts and due to complete mid next week and move the day after. We've not heard from our removal company to say they intend to cancel/delay our move due to the Covid-19 outbreak and I will call them next week to see if the move is still on. I just wondered if anyone in a similar situation has heard anything from their firm? I have such a feeling they will cancel last minute and rightly so if it's what it takes to keeps everyone as safe as possible but it'd be a nightmare.

I'm no expert in this, but I can't imagine many companies would cancel work in this climate unless they were absolutely forced to; they've still got to try and stay afloat!

If your removals company is anything like we are in SE Kent, they won’t be ringing to cancel you.
We are very busy and working at full capacity with removal dates booked up throughout April.
People still need somewhere to live, to move house, and we will be working until forced not to, which is unlikely.

If your staff fall ill. What's your contingency plan?  Working at full capacity gives no margin should you be impacted.

Presumably you're a FTB ? As if you're selling surely you'll need to move out before or at completion, not the day after ?

We still have our casual, “as and when required” removal staff that we can call on if needed. I meant to say our full time staff and lorries are all working.
  • We spoke to a firm today, they are working at full strength, have back up staff they can call upon and if necessary will hire more vehicles at short notice to ensure no-one is let down.
It would be foolish to turn work away, anyone that can work, will be

We moved today and our movers said they are booked up for the next 2 weeks. Whatever happens, a lot of people will be in exactly your position. I had the same worries and it turned out ok! Try not to worry too hard about what you can't control (I need this advice myself haha).

I keep telling myself it'll be fine but hearing from others has given me hope

If the advice given is continually ignored. Then lock down is a certainty. Does seem to be a lack of basic comprehension as to the seriousness of the situation by many people.
