I know hand washing with soap and water is the best but it's not always possible.
For everyone saying just use soap, the OP did state the above!

Sorry can't help with the search though, I bought one of the tiny wee bottles in Aldi last year and have had it in my car for a while but not surprisingly haven't been able to replenish it now its really needed!

I was pleased to get an email from the Body Shop earlier this week to say their Mango Hand Cleanse Gel was back in stock, the email was sent at 2.47pm and I got it just before 4pm and clicked on the link to have a look. Out of stock......

Have you ordered from there? I noticed a lot of places will let you order, pay, then tell you it's not in stock.
I picked up some isopropyl from ebay but even that seems to be impossible to find now.
Yes I ordered from there and it arrived in just a few days, very happy. Have now been able to give some to my parents, parents in law and also sister in law :-)

Just buy a bar of soap.
Well that's not a very helpful or friendly comment. Whilst everyone knows that soap and water is the most effective way to cleanse to avoid coronavirus, if you are out and about you obviously cannot do this, hence gel is the only option.

Even now we are on lockdown, people still have to go to the supermarket and petrol station. I was at the petrol station earlier this week and they had no gloves, so I was very glad to have some hand gel in my bag.

When leaving the supermarket we always use the hand gel before even putting our hands on the handle of the car.

Soap and water is definitely the most effective option, but there are plenty of times where this is just not feasible.

Yeah, I will use handwash and water when possible but it was more for when I am out and about etc.  I saw that a local-ish Superdrug had some available today when someone posted on HDUK but it would have been too much hassle getting there if they had all sold out.

I will see if Home Bargains / Quality Save have some when I next have to go into work (we can work from home unless on duty) as they were fully stocked with soaps and handwash and toilet roll and kitchen roll.  Failing that, and if I run out, I will just have to resort to eBay and get some from there.

Thanks again to everyone who has posted.  I have seen recipes online to make the hand sanitiser gel myself but it sounds too faffy and I haven't a clue where to get the alcohol from.
  • I know you've said washing with soap isn't always feasible but let's think how you could.
do you have a small Tupperware container that you could keep a bar of soap in? Take a bottle of water to wet/rinse your hands and then a flannel to dry the hands.
I know  it's not ideal but it's a workaround especially as there's no guarantee how long the postal system will still be allowed to work.

I have found hand gel in the hardware shop, along with carbolic soap

Our smaller local shops like spar usually have some as well

You could also try vet suppliers, look for hibiscrub, its harsh on the skin so remember to moisturise

    Thanks all.

I finally managed to get some this week from the local Boots store.  I had to go to work and thought well I might as well check.  They had tonnes in - 3 huge shelves worth, the big Carex 300ml ones and the small 50ml Cuticura ones.  I think the prices have been hiked but I am not bothered as long as I am not paying the crazy prices on eBay.  I got 2 of the larger ones but the lady at the till told me there are no restrictions on hand gels anymore so got 2 of the smaller ones for my nephews.

I know that washing with soap and water is the best but it's just for when I have to go to work and am out and about if I have to get milk etc.

I hope you are all keeping safe, take care.

Tonnes of hand sanitiser now available.  I saw some today at Home Bargains, Heron, Superdrug, Boots and a Post Office too.
