I agree it is incredibly hard to manage the anxiety (I have a DD freaking despite being brought up in laid back medical household) - the youngsters simply haven't experienced anything like this - from the back end of career in the health service we can remember times when there was a constant risk of getting Hep B, HIV (except we didn't know what it was at the time), meningococcus etc etc - all we could was good infection control and carry on focussed. Times have been relatively good and life fairly easy for a long time - its hard to adjust to an end to that as well as the need to consider a much bigger picture.
The announcements and news coverage (with varying degrees of sensationalism) are endless - it is easy to only hear the bits that suit you best.
Those who have been round the block a few more times can help her with sharing the fears and practical advice rather than damning her out of the box.
I hope the OP's niece gets sorted out - TBH lots of people in the same boat0 -

Not at the moment, as far as I'm aware, although many will probably tke the decision to close due to lack of footfall. At present I think it's only places where people congregate inside, such as cafes, bars, restaurants, bingo halls, leisure centres etc, that have been told to close.
