Police let me down

Sorry not sure where else to put this .
Just want some advice please , i sacked someone for poor work and they arrived at my door with another male booting in my door trying to get in and also shouting abuse.
They broke door locks which is going to cost over £200 to get fixed.
Police arrived quickly but to late to catch them , my neighbour had also called the Police as he heard them kicking my door and shouting abuse and he saw them on my property.
They took statements from me and my neighbour and i was told that they would either get a Fixed penalty notice or a Caution.
They were arrested but to my disgust i was informed they let them go as there was not enough evidence.
I was told that for them to get a penalty or caution they have to admit to the crime
I'm really sickened , so that means anyone can go around shouting abuse and kicking doors in and get away with it?
Even the police officers told me i did the right thing ,yet I'm let down because they have just let them go.
How much evidence do the Police need
I was made to feel threatened in my own home and my own home attacked.
I'm thinking of making a Police complaint? is this wise to do or not?
Btw my complaint is not with the 2 Police officers what attented as they were great , but to the action which was not taken agasint the 2 people attacking my home.

Do they both work.?
If you want to get them back, pay for the work to be done yourself. Get receipts, and ensure you get all the info you need from the police, and your witness, and take them to court.
File an online court proceedings to recover costs to have the door repaired / replaced, insurance excess etc.
This is criminal damage, and i would pay the £28 ?? or so to take them to court online..
You will win..0 -
That would push my premium up , plus its not the point , its not the money im worried about its how i felt threatend in my home and the abuse which was shouted at my property.
Its put me on edge that it may happen again , i even woke up in the of the night thinking someone was breaking in cause i heard a bang0 -
One of them things im afraid, just means that you can re-asses the security of your house.
If you do decide to reclaim costs from the damage, it would more than likely bring them around again to do some more.
Its up to you, the police have given up. You can pay yourself, and just let it go, or you can claim it back through the courts, plus costs from them.
Can i ask what kind of work did they do.? Are they a company, firm.? Or just random people.
Why did you stop them from carrying the work on.?0 -

You are quite right - there was an independent witness to the incident, so why wasn't some further action taken? Can anyone save the criminal justice system from itself? You could write to your MP, but I doubt it will result in any charges being brought against the perpretrators."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Contact your local paper. Name & shame the scumbag, It might save his next employer suffering too.
You can't do this, and the paper would not publish it, as the person had not been found guilty of any offence.
Have you not got any big mates that could go round to his and return the favour?Gone ... or have I?0 -
kimevans is right - whereas the press won't name & shame the thugs, they'd LOVE a pic of the OP next to the broken door with a story about police indifference that's left the victim feeling unprotected.0

I would write to the Chief Constable of your region, for example >
Write to the Chief Constable or Commissioner of Sussex Police @
The Chief Constable

I completely sympathise and find the criminal justice system in this country frustrating!
I had my car windscreen smashed by some youths, and although I didn't witness it, I heard them smash it, and saw the group of them standing by my car laughing (They were the only people in the whole quiet residential street!). Called police immediately who were great, they'd already stopped the group because of the clear description I'd given, but I was told that because I couldn't pick exactly which one of them had smashed it, they couldn't do anything!
SO frustrating!! I regret not pointing at one of them now, and hoping that it either was him, or he'd squeal on his mate that did do it!
Maybe I should have got my big butch neighbour to put his balaclava on, follow the little blighters home, and smash their car windscreen!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Don't feel bad about the police - they were probably too busy dealing with people who had been 'assaulted' in Tesco over a pack of bananas...0
