That post of mine you have quoted three times is now wrong.
Your Defence filing target date is now 4pm on Wednesday 15th April.
You have just removed five days from those available to produce a Defence.

Was this at a Sussex car park, if so, where please?
Some of the Sussex OPS car parks have 'issues' with landowner authority.
Any glance at ANY other OPS threads here will tell you why I am asking. And with the ones I've been helping with they have ALL been discontinued recently once they get near the hearing. Haven't needed to help anyone in court for weeks.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've got a few days to file my defence for the above parking fine. (due in on Wednesday, the 15th). Before I do this can I confirm a few things, as I'd rather this not escalate.
1. Will my girlfriend have to attend court? - or is her defence considered
'remotely'?
2. Can the costs escalate further, if for example she lost the case?
Thanks,
David0 -
I thought we had established that it is not your defence, it is your GF's. Yes, the defendant, in this case your GF, will have to attend court, unless it is heard on papers or, more likely she is offered a telephone hearing due to the present situation.2

Is this likely to be legit?
100%. Your GF now has to defend a claim for breach of contract. Read the newbies at the top of the index page, then read this

As you will see they are asking far more than the law allows. If a solicitor was involved, report them here

From now on, no more ignoring, no paying, but lots of reading.Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and in some cases, cancellation.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

1) it's recommended that she attends court , highly recommended , but not mandatory
2) as long as she is there to object to the costs , plus extra costs if they ask for them , then any loss should be the same as on the court claim , or more likely less to pay
That is why it's important to attend , to stop extra charges being added in her absence1 -

I have done the defence for her (using the IAG provided eg template) etc, but to be honest the loss in my earnings ( i will need to take a day off work to accompany her)/travel costs/stress etc, means I am tempted just to pay up.
Further, I have read the 'defence template' and clearly it looks strong. However the specifics of her case are perhaps not: I was driving to my gig and parked in a residential parking space, as there was no other parking spaces near by ( I was told I would be fine by my band mates/venue owner). I was aware it was risky but took the word of the above.
Can I attach my defence as it stands? or is this against the forum rules.
