You didn't qualify, so you didn't lose out. Plus you don't have the waiting game to see when the system will be updated.50Twuncle said:facade said:Sit tight until 3 days before your first MOT is due. Then it should have updated to say MOT isn't due until October, and you can tax the car for May 1st.If it doesn't update the MOT status, you have to follow the instructions on this page.Thats not strictly trueMine shows MOT expiry on March 30th 2021 - I had it MOTd on 23rd March 2020it was DUE on 30th March 2020 - so I have lost out on 6 months of free MOT0 -
What is not strictly true ? You had yours done before 30th March under the old pre emergency rules and got 1year and 1 week till next MOT. If you had it done on that date and the test had already been extended it would have expired on 22nd March 2021. You have lost nothing.50Twuncle said:facade said:Sit tight until 3 days before your first MOT is due. I have lost out on 6 months of free MOT since the rules state that if you had an MOT carried out from (including) 30th March - you should get a 6 month waivermolerat said:

But you had yours carried out BEFORE 30th March, so the rules don't apply.50Twuncle said:

No you haven't, the mot is never free. There is a minimum and maximum price set by government though. You also haven't missed out on an extension as you already have a MOT.50Twuncle said:

You have lost nothing. no matter what was put in place you would find something to whine about.
This has been put in place due to extreme circumstances. You are stll required to ensure your vehicle is safe and road worthy. My MOTs cost under £30,so is £15 worth crying about?1 -
The extension applied to MOTs due but not done from 30 March. A six month extension is given from the due date.50Twuncle said:

So , if an MOT was done on 30 March it would run out 30 March 2021.
If an MOT was due 30 March was not done then the due date was moved on 6 months.0
