I ordered various furniture from Laura Ashley as was given an idea of delivery. I paid deposit on my Amex card and I understand I have 90 days protection through the card.  However have now been informed that delivery delayed due manufacturer with delivery date uncertain.  I am about 40days into my 90 days protection. I would ideally still like to have the furniture but what are my rights? Just don’t know what to do!

Hi. I'm not holding out any hope of getting my furniture. Like you I still really want it.  Now Laura Ashley are in administration, I had no choice but to try to claim under section 75 from  the credit card company. (who i must say have been very helpful so far) Unfortunately i paid fully when I ordered, was not given a choice, so I don't want to pay for something I have no hope of getting.  I hope we all get the outcome we deserve.
  • I ordered a sofa in the Aintree store on 10th March and took advantage of the interest free credit. The sofa cost £1218 with an additional £104 for Stainguard Warranty, so my total outlay was £1322. I paid a deposit of £132.20 (in store) with my Visa Debit Card and agreed to pay the balance off over 6 monthly payments of £198.30. I'm now unsure whether I'll ever get the sofa! I've tried ringing Customer Services but the line is down owing to the volume of calls, so not sure what to do. Should I cancel the Direct Debit? The thought of now having to pay £198.30 each month for a sofa I may never receive is extremely worrying. Could anyone explain to me what my rights are with respect to this transaction and perhaps offer me some advice? Ideally, if I'm not going to receive the sofa I'd like my deposit back and cancel the Direct Debit payments.
Any update on this....I’m in a similar boat sadly 😞

I ordered furniture in January and had agreed delivery date in March then this was cancelled due to covid19.  I was also told that my order would be honoured even though LA were in administration.  I paid 10% deposit on their credit card and the rest is on an interest free credit agreement.  I have received items like lamps and blinds, but not the furniture. Where do I stand on payment? Happy to pay for what I’ve received but not for things I haven’t had.  But don’t think the direct debit can start until order is fulfilled but no comms and no one to ask! Thanks
  • I recently purchased from laura Ashley’s aintree retail outlet a Garrat Chessnut four drawer console table order date the 20-2-2020 supposed to be delivered on the 10th -4th - 2020 order number 506744030 Paid in full on my visa debit card still not received item or any corespondents regarding delivery of table
I have tried ringing store but can’t get through to customer service what is my next step thanks.
  • Hi. As you must be aware Laura Ashley went into administration back in March.  You need to ring your bank,  advise them of the situation and say you would like to do a charge back.  I've just had a letter from Laura Ashley advising me I'm not getting my furniture,  bit late I thought, but after 3 months silence at  least it is some communication.  You should receive something from them at some point. Let your bank know asap so they are aware though. It's a different process than mine,  I paid on a credit card,  so claiming under section 75.  I'm sure you bank will assist.  My credit card company so far has been helpful.  Good luck.
  • I paid for a table and chairs at the end of January this year. Told 6-8 weeks for delivery, delayed until 3rd April. Covid 19 hits no delivery. Told 14th May all orders would be honoured. Now received email with administration details.
Lloyd's bank won't honour charge back because its longer than 120 days from purchase. Visa debit site says you can claim back from delivery date, Lloyd's still won't honour it!
    Any suggestions, please?
  • Hi. Just an update on my situation with a Laura Ashley order,. My claim under Section 75 has been successful, and New Day credit card has refunded the whole amount, including the portion paid on my debit card. Such a relief, and hopefully this will give anyone in the same situation hope it will be resolved.  The thought of paying £2000 out for nothing was very stressful, but with advice and support from MSE site and its members the issue is resolved.  Still think something should be done about companies accepting orders, insisting goods are paid for at time of ordering, when they know they are in financial difficulties. Especially when they take orders just days before announcing administration.
As a loyal customer of Laura Ashley for many years, very disappointed they treated their customers this way.
  • I ordered a footstool (£460 including Stainguard) in January for delivery April 17. Was advised in April there was a delay to manufacturing due to Covid-19 and order would be fulfilled but only once Govt restrictions were lifted allowing 2 person deliveries to resume. In June I was advised my order would not be fulfilled and immediately claimed on credit card under section 75; where I received a refund to my credit card account. Have since received paperwork from administrators advising me how to claim on their portal  - which I have not done due to section 75 claim. Following this, my credit card company have written to confirm refund into my account but if their claim is unsuccessful then they will debit the money back out of my account. Question:  Can I put a second claim in with administrators - knowing I may receive a fraction of the amount paid to Laura Ashley - or will this jeopardise any claim already put through the credit card company? Presumably I can only claim once through one channel; via credit card company or administrators but not both? Advice appreciated. Thanks
