    Me too as I'm in the process of buying a new build.  There seems to be a lot of anti-new build comments on here but the new build I'm buying has spacious rooms, high ceilings, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom as standard.  Got a decent sized garden too.  I think while there are some new builds that aren't great, but I also think there are plenty of good ones too which funnily enough, isn't so different from 'normal' houses!

    I found the same. Happy with the flat I found
    I'm in it for the long-term and going into it with the expectation of snagging issues (just hoping there's no major defects and structural work that is needed during my time there)
     Big positive with CV and buying a new build right now - developer has to be a bit more reasonable with their timeline to completion... What can you do if lenders/solicitors have delays associated with precautionary measures (I doubt they'd be getting as many people in the show homes so would be less likely to kill a deal imho)

    I Agree with above too...The newbuild that i have booked has good layout, larger room (then old houses in area), better insulation, ventilation etc. If it wasn't for the current uncertainty would have definitely gone for it.

    What's all your thought processes in pros/cons. I know I've been debating with myself about it but might be interesting to compare notes

    I definitely wouldn't at the moment, won't be long until the building sites shut down and who knows who long it will take to recover and finish them. I certainly wouldn't be exchanging on any new builds in the foreseeable future.

    I'm due to complete on a new build the end of next week. We reserved the beginning of October and was told completion end of March, so bang on timescale luckily. It's not one of the big major builders, and the quality we have seen in the build far exceeds what we have seen from some of them! 
    We plan on staying here long term so not worried about downturn in prices, just thankful we will finally be out of renting after many years. Our mortgage payments will be over £300 a month cheaper than we pay in rent so it's a win win for us  :)

    At the moment my thinking is to continue towards exchange, its for our forever home and I still want it.  My concern is what happens if the work on the house stops, the long stop is July so right over the problem time so to speak.  For us, we will be in a much better financial situation by moving from our 1950s house that needs a quite a bit of work to a brand new build that won't require any work.

    My new build is already built, but will need to be snagged and any snags fixed.....

    Can neither snag or fix the snags now we are on lockdown unless myself and the builder are happy to break the rules.

    I’m due to complete today on a new build. My home demo was cancelled and any snags found will be inspected once possible to do so. 
    Keeping everything crossed and patiently waiting for the call to say we have completed!

    We reserved a place in February, was due to be finished end of May - sorted mortgage (first time we've ever been approved for one) and Help to Buy, and started all the paper work. Then we had bad weather, build was delayed, still touted May/June for completion of build. Got the contract this week and need to sign it AND pay the deposit by Friday... Building company have closed down the show homes and sales offices and contract has a specific clause, according to the solicitor, that until the house is finished (in terms of construction) we have zero legal recourse if it all falls apart! Currently bricking it and can't decide whether to just pull out of it all and wait till things "blow over"... Thoughts?
