Now - yes but at the point when I posted the original - they were trying to rip.us off !mac.d said:So another completely pointless thread with a misleading title.
Andrex 9 toilet rolls:
£4.49 at Amazon
£5 at Sainsburys
£4 at Morrisons
£4 at Asda (ooh look its even the quilted version)
£7.50 for 16 at Tesco
Not much in stock but no-one profiteering, except dodgy third party sellers and ebay con artists.0 -
But in the OP you didn't specify "they" beyond Amazon, who weren't trying to rip us off and acted to remove those who were.50Twuncle said:

Amazon didn't at any point try to rip anyone off. As other people have already pointed out, it was a third party seller, not Amazon. And as RichardD1970 has just indicated with his reply, Amazon have now removed the seller, so they are in fact trying to stop other third party sellers from trying to rip you off.50Twuncle said:Now - yes but at the point when I posted the original - they were trying to rip.us off !
Therefore, you starting a thread stating "Amazon have hiked the cost of Toilet Roll to silly levels" is incorrect.2 -
Please educate yourself about the important difference between Amazon themselves and third party sellers merely using the Amazon platform.50Twuncle said:

45 Cushelle toilet rolls from Costco cost me £15 (£12.50 + VAT) yesterday. This is a multipack made up of 5 packs of 9 rolls each.mac.d said:Andrex 9 toilet rolls:

These 9 roll packs are shown on eBay for up to £30 each! Now, that's what you call a mark up.
Before anyone accuses me of stockpiling. The ones I bought have now been distributed to a few very elderly neighbours who were unable to get any locally. I had to queue for close to 2 hours on Sunday and weather permitting, I will probably be doing the same next Sunday.6 -
You can buy corona toilet tissue via Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toilet-Cellulose-Wadding-Effect-Rolls/dp/B00X80LNZU/
Novelty? It appears not. Corona is a brand of toilet tissue in, believe it or not, Italy: http://www.tedimindustry.com/
Apparently Corona is Italian for crown.0 -
And if those are worldwide fatalities then it's actually small beer (pun intended) compared to previous pandemics (SARS, Swine Flu, Spanish Flu, etc.) where the fatalities were in the several millions.

~260,000 deaths will be UK deaths.DoaM said:And if those are worldwide fatalities then it's actually small beer (pun intended) compared to previous pandemics (SARS, Swine Flu, Spanish Flu, etc.) where the fatalities were in the several millions.
As of writing, there's a worldwide total of 188,171 diagnosed coronavirus cases and 7,479 deaths have been attributed to the virus.
That's a death rate of almost 4%.
In reality the number of coronavirus cases is likely to be far higher than the figure above suggests, which brings the death rate percentage down significantly.1 -
Is this a fact or speculation!SnowTiger said:

I've seen some ridiculous posts on here but this really takes the biscuit. Really? Get a grip and stop posting silly "information".50Twuncle said:260,000 deaths predicted in a best case scenario
