It appears from some this is much needed
And i quite miss this one too
Our household income is now at about 30% so next months reduced food spend is more necessary than a choice. I am still working albeit reduced hours and i was already really busy. I seem to spend my weekends being exhausted at the moment.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

£32.50 spent today.
This came in the small fruit and vegetable box today.
I think it's worth it for £14.25; fresh, organic and tasty fruit and vegetables. Right to our door and as we are in isolation right now the fact there is no need to interact with the driver is perfect. Obviously we got more than the above, OH was very happy that he got his milk and a pack of stewing beef.
We have courgettes from last week aswell as some fresh tomatoes (though tin could also be used or added) so ratatouille or Mediterranean vegetable pasta (have some gluten free pasta in my store cupboard) will likely feature this week.
OH will having beef stew and a baked potato for dinner (we have baking potatoes from last weeks fruit and vegetable box).
I'm having Japanese vegetable curry and rice for dinner; yesterdays left overs.
The electric pressure cooker, multi cooker and OHs small slow cooker are the only reasons we have had real, healthy cooked food the last week.
We will make banana cake/bread at some point this week also as as we have bananas from last week not used yet; OH loves this as a treat.
If not that, I came across a banana peanut butter chocolate chip nice cream recipe that looked good, we have all the ingredients for and is relatively healthy looking.
£32.50/£200.

What a beautiful haul @Doom_and_Gloom. Which service are you using, Abel & Cole?9

Yup A&C, they really are amazing.
We've been using them for years and I fully recommend them. Unfortunately right now they aren't taking on new customers due to everything going on.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy9 -
@Doom_and_Gloom I loved using them when I lived in London. If your OH likes ham, there are a few good packaged ham options in the deli section. The site won’t let me in currently but have a search on there.9

I've been avoiding going shopping and we are quite happily existing on store cupboards items with just a few forays to the shops. MrSS has stepped up and done a few shops on his own - and has used his own money!! So the budget is still looking pretty healthy. Panic buying seems to be subsiding here, and we've found that if you want to avoid the queues, go out in the afternoon or evening. Our total spend so far is £168 (I'm not surprised as we are +1 and have buying habits are a bit upside down at the moment) unusually for us we have a healthy amount left for the remaining three weeks.
Edit - I just realised that my formula wasn't right, so had to correct total spend.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

DS now home from the US thank goodness, I picked him up from Heathrow yesterday. It was unreal to see the airport so empty. I did a stock up shop on Saturday at Sains and have got enough in to last 7 days quarantine. That came to £45.48.
Neither of us has symptoms or is in the vulnerable category so the quarantine is just a precaution.

Hi could you put me down for £450 for April please, I went well over March's amount so hoping to rein in back in slightly for April. We've got quite a bit in the stock cupboard so trying to slim that down as well as use all the random bits from the freezer.
So far I've planned up to Easter Monday, will spend some time over the next few days working out what else I can make from what we already have in.
Hubby is being made redundant at the start of May (not Covid-19 related) so will need to be more careful with the spends until he finds a new job, as we'll need to make the money spread as far as possible.
I'll catch up on the chat another time. Hope everyone is coping ok with the changes that are happening at the momentGrocery Challenge 2024

Hubby did another shop today which came to $174. I don't think he has a budgeting bone in his body... but I'm thankful that he went while I can't. Total now $388 out of $800.March 2020 grocery challenge $921.76/$500AU

Good afternoon Peeps,
just caught up with all the posts. My month is 27th to 26th April due to pay day. So again for this month I will continue with £200.(was well under budget for March not sure how that happened) Didn't actually do any shopping till last Friday. Not actually noted them but have saved the receipts.
I never realised how much batch cooking I had stored in the freezer. My cupboard is looking a little cluttered with all the plastic tubs. I even save them when have takeaways, which has clearly stopped at the moment.
I have a friend who reads the BBE and eat by religiously and throws away. She has learnt that I will help her with the item disposal;) am also trying to show her and my work colleagues about how to apply some common sense with this waste.
So pleased the weather has decided to be kind and make us feel a little better about it all. I do empathise with those who live in flats/apartments.
stay safe
