Question for the learned people on this forum. I have a squirrel pod ACS3600 inverter with uhome batteries, I'm looking to expand the system and add a 2nd ac coupled ACS3600, can I use a different battery make linked to the second inverter? I have asked Lux as well to see what they come back with.

And a supplementary question from me, if I may. I'm interested in the Fogstar rack battery system. One of the supported inverters is listed as Pylontech, although I've never seen one with that branding; do they mean Luxpower, which seems to be closely associated?

Piman72 has got fogstar working with lux, he'll have all details. P178 on forum

They're referring to the Pylontech comms protocol that the BMS uses. So if your inverter supports the Pylontech protocol, it should in theory work.
The Seplos BMS (also sold by Fogstar) uses the Pylontech protocol among others and works with the Lux AC3600.

The Fogstar rack batteries use the PACE BMS and it sounds like they also work with Lux inverters as Piman72 posted.

    Excellent.

So, I now know the Fogstars will work with SunSynk, which has provision for islanding. I just need to find out if the 12kW Lux can also trigger a contactor when the mains fails. The extra 4kW over the Sunsynk would be reassuring, when running a heat pump.
  • I've had a response from lux and it is
"Yes , it can be install different battery brand as indipendent battery bank with each inverter.
But we suggest to use same battery brand and both of two inverter share with same battery bank.
    kind regards"

Not sure if this is what you mean but I have the 3.5 Lux with esp. The lux has the esp always on. The external independent contactor to link the wiring on power cut is on an always on to stop the connection so when the power cuts the contractor fails and creates the neutral/earth bond.

Not sure if that makes sense!

  • I'm after a bit of info related to the first version uhome batteries (big battery terminals/plugs), I need a set of long battery link cables to allow 2 battery stacks to be joined in parallel. How are the battery connections described? so I can see if, for example, pylontech cables will fit the older larger connections on the uhome.
