My system has produced more than 30kwh a day for the last four days, yesterday was a record day of 34kwh in a single day. In the last four years the previous record was below 30.
I'm curious as to whether this increase is what everyone else is seeing ...
Over on the "my generation" thread" there have been a few people claiming record generation totals recently. Here is an example.
For me, alas, we've had some cloud so my generation hasn't reached last year's highs, let alone alltime ones.

They talk a lot about "O"s on there. What are they?

O for Oscar :)  it's shorthand for (kWh/kWp) and is a crude way of comparing the performance of different people's PV systems.
    • I have a 2.72kWp solar PV system. If, in a given period it generates 2.72kWh, that's 1 O. If it generates 5.44kWh, it's 2 Os. 8.16kWh is 3Os. And so on.
    • You have a 4.8kWp array (16 x 300W panels). You can reasonably expect to generate more kWh than me, as toyr system is almost twice as big. For you, 4.8kWh is 1 O, 9.6kWh is 2 Os, 14.4kWh is 3 Os.
Example: if, on a given day, I generate 8kWh and you generate 14kWh, we've both fallen slightly short of 3 Os.

There are also colloquial names used for the various numbers of Os. There's a guide here.

Our peak generation's been down over the past couple of weeks, the panels are just getting far too hot.  Seen this before in a hot spell, instead of getting close to the 6kW or so they can generate in bright sun, shining straight at them, they are struggling to get above about 4.5kW.  We were regularly seeing the 6kW inverter max out on bright days earlier this year though.

Still, been a good year so far, about 2,740kWh to date, so on target for our typical 5,500kWh to 6,000kWh for the year.  Last few days have been between 30kWh and 39kWh per day.  Getting a bit of cloud over the past couple of days that's knocking it back a bit, though.

For comparison :- we have a main south facing 6kWp system here in the north east of england, generating about 5.3kw at peak today / yesterday, with a bit of haze. Almost perfect solar curve though. Yesterday generated 44.5kwh giving a 7.4 O ! My max daily  production was 5 years ago at 49.5kwh. Generation this year has been 3,325kwh which is probably 4th highest out of the 6 and a half years generating. ive installed a small south west facing system, which is only monitored via a small clip on meter, at peak each day it gets to around 520w which around its name plate.

Trying to set up the dongle on the inverter to link to WiFi (not my system).. I can connect to the dongle via the Android phone and access 10.10.10.1.. but during the config to get it to join the local WiFi the phone keeps logging out and joining the WiFi.. anyone else had the same issue and if so what is the solution?

There's normally either an option or setting on your phone to ignore the fact that the inverter AP WiFi can't pass the phones WiFi internet test of being able to access the internet when connected to the inverter's AP WiFi.

That is true but in my experience on Android (Pixel 3a) it still only stays connected for a few seconds then bins it for mobile data. Maybe if you also turn off mobile data while trying to connect to it it'll stay with it?

  • yes you will need to turn off mobile data.

    Hi All

This is a question on functionality for anyone with the hybrid inverter and are using/have it configured for the functionality of standby backup power (EPS) mode.....

Q1: It's been configured via local connection mode for standby then EPS has been enabled - is it a requirement that the inverter needs to be power cycled to fully enable this functionality?

Q2: Without power cycling the inverter, the supplier installed inverter backup power outlet mains double socket is already live and supplying power to what I want powered in a grid failure scenario (a small NAS) - in normal working mode where the grid is available should I expect to see a line on the app/web status page between the inverter and the underneath lower standby icon?

Q3: Again in normal grid power available mode, should I expect to see a reading of what power is being used by the standby power (EPS) circuit - but this power usage value may not be available as in grid available mode, the power is effectively bypassing any inverter functionality other than sensing if it's there from what I understand on how the inverter works?

It just seems weird that as the inverter is already supplying this backup circuit power (although effectively passively in grid available mode) it doesn't show this on the status page - just thought it may have still indicated something.....

I'd read that the inverter may well require a power cycle for this functionality to be 100% enable, just wondering on other people's experiences.....

EDIT: Doesn't matter, I understand now that this line and power value on the monitor will only show when the grid is detected as missing, hay-ho every day's a school day ...
