Wetherspoons Complaint

But your happy to use swear unnecessarily in an email?. Complaints can be made in a calm tone to the staff and it won't embarrass them.Robert19D said:Im not exactly one to complain in front of other guests and embarass the staff. Obviously it seems all you lot are. However thats my reasoning for filing the complaint online albeit wasnt happy with my food or experience.
If i was in your position i would have gone up to the bar and explained the food was cold and request for a replacement, if the food was eaten then it can't have been that bad. I can't see why you couldn't have asked them to do this when you asked them to lock the side door because you were cold?.
As for what's on the TV, well it's obvious your just adding that on to make the complaint seem more "serious" because who seriously goes out for a meal to watch TV?...3 -

I’ve always found the staff in Wetherspoons very obliging. On one occasion I had my young granddaughter with me. When her food arrived she burst into tears because it wasn’t what she thought it would be. The waitress immediately said, don’t worry what would you like instead. The meal was changed without charge. Remember you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Politeness costs nothing.5

I'd be very happy if the news rather than the six nations was on but accept there are some who might not. As far as I can tell from this thread you
a. had cold food but did not complain at the time and ate (I think) some or all of it
b. had a TV programme on which was not your preference
c. made a written complaint later
d. followed this up with abusive language leading to your complaint being closed.
so irrespective of whether your complaint had merit and/or was taking too long to solve you gave them a get out of jail free card by being abusive. What have you learnt for the future?

I've worked in front line customer services, and the way some 'customers' speak to the person on the other end of the 'phone is awful.
I've always had a good response to complaints, even with Wetherspoons - because I use polite but firm language.
I think this is a lesson in controlling yourself and reaping the rewards when you fail to do so - as someone who has had to deal with inconsiderate idiots on the 'phone for many years, I'm glad someone had the 'spuds' to close your case and tell you to do one.
In future, perhaps reconsider your conduct and use this as a lesson. Well done Wetherspoons for standing up to staff abuse

You're saying that you didn't like the quality of the meal, the quality of the pub, the quality of service, and the way they dealt with your complaint.
So perhaps the best solution is not give them any more of your business, and move on with your life. I'm not sure it's worth obsessing about.
If all their customers have the same opinion as you, I guess that pub will soon go out of business anyway.

And judging by how busy all of them usually are, the OP is in a minority.
Unless self-isolation chucks a spanner in the works.0 -
Exactly. Their pubs are cheap, low quality, and very popular. A bit like the budget airlines, budget hotels and maybe the budget supermarkets.Pollycat said:

Personally, I'm happy with that. But if they OP isn't, they need to go to a different type of pub.0 -
I wonder if the “food” was ice cream 🤔1
