Call me paranoid, if you like, but....

...a thought occurred to me today...
What if Martin Lewis wanted to get rid of the comping section of his forum? From all I've observed, he is a nice guy. I think he would be reluctant to simply close our comping sections down. What he might well prefer, would be to make it a lot less 'user friendly' and hope that we all drifted away.
I'm not saying that is what is happening for sure, but I do think it is a possibility. It would explain why he has allowed these changes that affect our use of the forum so badly, and why there are no real signs of any of our complaints being addressed.

I think what would be nice is a update when they can with what is still to come and time frames.

No end in sight and a lack of proper updates with time-frames is what's frustrating many of us.
No wonder some are feeling that they're dropping the comps board by stealth.
Combine real difficulties using the site that makes efficient comping impossible among even the most flexible of us with lack of comps as posters move over to other sites... you get what you see here  :(

Moving the skips from one database to another would take one line of code and that's it. It would take minutes. Unless they've got monkeys manually marking each one in a secret lab somewhere.

    All interesting comments, thanks.

But I'm still thinking that if he really wants to keep compers happy, and active here, that he would at least be providing us with info and reassurance.

Yes, there is the feedback section re the changes. But surely he has someone monitoring what his users are saying about the changes. And if so, he knows that lots of us are not happy, and several are migrating elsewhere, seemingly, including Laks.

I don't know if MSE will address our concerns in time or not. But if they are planning too, and want us to be patient while they're sorting it, then they should put the effort in to keep us informed. After all, he did warn us that the changes were coming. So why can't he just post, or get one of the team to post, in CCC every now and then, in a effort to try to keep us on board?

I honestly think that if he is not doing this, it is quite likely because he want to close the comping section. He is too smart not to be aware of what is happening. If he's not addressing it in way that keeps us happy, it is for a reason.

The forum team do not monitor what the users are saying elsewhere - which means comments made elsewhere do not need to be taken into account by the team and do not "start a clock running" in terms of getting anything changed.

"We keep a regular eye on the Site Feedback board and do discuss issues mentioned there behind the scenes. In the past due to lack of time we’ve not always replied to posts made there, but just focused on dealing with them as soon as we could. We're now trying to post on there more often to let you know what’s going on and hopefully it's helping."

mjm, I get that they don't generally monitor the thousands of other posts on the forum, under normal circumstances. But given all the changes that have just been made, and given that they definitely know, from site feedback at least, that compers are not happy with those changes, I still believe that Martin Lewes is far too astute to not to have his team keep up to speed with CCC and perhaps one or two other places on the forum too. We might have to agree to disagree about this one, my friend
