Dogs have gotten it or been contaminated, so they could become spreaders?

Coronavirus is serious. Whilst the death rate is low, the spread should be of concern. The fact is that a lot of people were either too stupid to understand the implications, or too selfish to care. As such, self isolation is likely to be better protection for you against others than the other way around. As a scientist and educator, I am already avoiding unnecessary crowds/events. Shopping locally/ having shopping delivered and working from home where I can. With luck and a but of basic hygiene and common sense, hopefully the spread can be slowed until the Warmer weather

I'm doing the same. I've seen a few 'I'm alright Jack' posts online from people who aren't bothered because they are younger and fitter. But they should take note that the occasional younger person has fallen victim. Plus how will they feel when it happens to one of their family?bexster1975 said:Coronavirus is serious. Bexster 🙂I think you need to distinguish between posts from people who do actually display the attitude you've mentioned and those who aren't running round like Chicken Licken crying 'the sky is going to fall'.Posters in the latter group aren't 'not bothered'.On another thread I posted a link to a BBC article that gives serious analysis of deaths by age, sex & health for deaths from coronavirus.I was told that was selfish and inappropriate. It was neither. It was factual and informative. It's a fact that of the 8 people who have died in the UK so far, all but one have been (what I would class as) elderly (the youngest was in his 60s) and all had underlying health issues.I'm nearer 70 to 60 but I don't have underlying health issues. That's not an 'I'm all right Jack' attitude, it's a fact.I'm not practising self isolation but I'm not going out mingling with crowds of people either. I don't work.I'm not too stupid to understand the implications.I'm not too selfish to care.I'm concerned about the spread.I'm not worried - because that's not in my nature.11 -
I will isolate if asked to, to be honest already preparing to do that as much as possible without being asked to now.
I will be nipping out today to buy a washing machine, get cat supplies in, some food, and pick the car up from the garage. Maybe some gardening stuff if I have time. Then I think I should be pretty much ready to do it anytime.
I work for the NHS though, so assume that people being told to isolate will not apply to me where work is concerned anyway.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.4 -
I would self-isolate if asked to do so, but in practise it wouldn't be easy. We've no seperate rooms at home for a start, shared bedroom, and the rest all open plan apart from the bathroom, so pretty impossible really. No opportunity to work from home at the moment either, my employer simply isn't offering it, so still doing the long, crowded, train journey.2

Can I play golf if I am self isolating?1

As long as you don't linger at the 19th hole...

We already are! For as long as it talks. Not a cheery prospect but we have Tesco delivered and apart form me picking up hubby's prescription quickly in a quiet chemist we won't e socialising or meeting anyone - or having anyone in the house. I'm looking into having the prescription meds delivered for the following month.3

This is the responsible thing to do.Browntoa said:Hard call , I'd need to get shopping for my elderly mum as her health issues require self isolate . Her flat is too small to stockpile stuff.
I'm planning on early morning visit's to shops , wiping down of any trolley I use prior to shopping and distancing from her whilst there .
I'm only talking bread, milk and basic meals
Online shopping is booked out all the time.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2
