What counts as a debit card payment? Does transferring money into a different bank account count?
If done by faster payment, no
If done by debit card, yes
Sorry to sound dense, but can I have examples of debit card payments?

The only thing I can think of is going to the shops with the card and spending £500 in Tesco’s a month isn’t me. Is there a way to spend £500 without paying off credit cards where you already spent £500?

Is there a list of which saving accounts accept debit cards? I saw NS&I bonds mentioned here but their interest rates are 0.01% so I’d rather not open it due to not really using it.

Can I do debit chip+1 or atom?

its an app banking with physical and virtual debit card. App is really great and you can have/hold different currency accounts and can also instantly convert to different currencies. To add money, you can connect bank or can top up through debit card.  More here - https://www.revolut.com/

Coming back to this thread topic, every month me and my partner just top up £500 to pur respective Revolut account and then transfer back from Revolut to our respective bank accounts. As while topping up Revolut, we use Halifax debit card, we become eligible for Halifax rewards.

    Hope this helps.

yes chip works but be aware that chip charges you if you go above £100 balance, not sure about atom.

Before using Revolut, I used to make transactions on NS&I direct saver, Skipton online saver and Post office saver accounts.  For TSB and Coop rewards I still use these 3 and works fine.  Minimum amount is £1

I dont do Halifax anymore with these because it takes few days to get back money from these saver accounts and dont want to block my £500 for that long, Revolut hardly takes a min for end to end transaction.

NS&I Direct Saver pays 0.15% interest, but you can't withdraw the money for 7 days, and withdrawals arrive next day.  So not the best route for manufacting a DC transaction but it may work for some.

Worth noting that the Yorkshire BS Loyalty Monthly Saver can be funded by Debit Card.

Also worth noting that, surprisingly, it is possible to open a second Halifax Rewards Current Account, which I just did for the switching bonus.  Opened Wednesday last week and Switch started.  £100 hit my account on Monday.

If you use a credit card, you can probably pay that off with a Halifax DC.
