I'm constantly amused by the genuine sense of anticipation and excitement that the prospect of a free fiver elicits.

Don't look at the perks involved in a co op direct debit payment then, it could be terminally amusing.

Did you never get excited when your dad gave you a fiver?

    6d, yes; a fiver, no.
But I DO remember the thrill of finding a ten-bob note on the pavement. ...   :)
And the Halifax Reward has been the only income that has more than doubled in quite a while.

    Classic Halifax:
Prepared to make the regular Debit Card payments to NS&I, when I noticed that two of the Reward Accounts' Debit Cards had expired. Called the Halifax - "We haven't sent new cards because you haven't used the debit cards for a year, Sir". Pointed out that those cards had been used every recent month to move £500 into NS&I.
    "Oh!"

What counts as a debit card payment? Does transferring money into a different bank account count?

If done by faster payment, no
If done by debit card, yes
