I am travelling from Manchester with Virgin and should have been returning with Flybe it was booked and paid for as a package with hotel and car hire....thanks for your reply0

The more information you give the MSE community the better the quality of the answers. People define ‘package’ in different ways.
If unsure, check for an ATOL certificate and look on there for who it has been issued by and what cover it indicates.
If you have a true package holiday, like one in this case bought via Virgin Holidays, then as you allude the Operator holds responsibility to offer you an alternative domestic connection or a refund on your package holiday costs. That alternative may be on another airline ABZ MAN if flown by another airline or it could be an offer of another ex Scottish airport or even land transfer.
If you have self packed this , buying components over several days/weeks, circumstances are different.

Thanks for your advice.... yes it was a VS flight number and all booked at the same time.with my debit card.....under the collapse of Flybe can I cancel the whole package and rebook elsewhere0

Have you even given the package provider (who you still have not named) time to source you an alternative flight yet?
Worth pointing out at this point that both flights are probably not operating, I do like the idea of a big Virgin widebody jet landing at Aberdeen airport, I dont even think its feasible tbh.0 -
At present there are no flights from Aberdeen to Manchester. The only airline flying that route was flybe and it doesn't look like any other airline has chosen to pick it up.
Virgin used to fly from Aberdeen to Heathrow (and, I believe, Gatwick) but shut down what they called little red as it was losing money. As far as a big widebody getting into Aberdeen - no chance. The biggest that can currently land there are A320's and 737's due to the relatively short runway.0 -
Loganair are taking up MAN-ABZ. Starts on Monday 16th March, with flights upto 4 times a day.
If it was booked as a package, with an ATOL, then the package provider should find you alternative flights, and if they are unable then provide a full refund. The Loganair flights seem like a viable alternative, although are likely more expensive than flybe. get in touch with your agent.0 -
It would certainly be helpful to know who the travel provider/tour operator is and if this is a true package holiday, or not?0
