I may have the same issue. I found this:
    https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/fttp-providers

Definitely more expensive when I've looked around. Couldn't find costs for all listed.
Tried to ring BT but couldn't get through (not surprised due to Corona).
Can someone confirm if these are alternatives to BT/FTTP on a new build?
    - Install a new telephone line (FTTC)
    - Go with Virgin Media.
Can VM provide facilities for the property ?

I think I can recall the sales advisor saying yes, but they didn't seem to push this. A postcode search on their website says it's available but doesn't show me the packages, just that Virgin will contact me in 5 days (or weeks if they're short staff I imagine)

IF OR have installed FTTP as part of a new build, they wont have installed copper as well, so you wont have FTTC.

Amazes me that people even want old, outdated copper installed when they already have the best available connection.  One that we are constantly told we are lagging behind the rest of the world as it's not available to all.  And then people that have it want to replace it with a century old technology.

If providers didn't charge a premium for FTTP I would agree, but if you can get reasonable speeds over ASDL/VSDL then there seems little point in paying a premium for FTTP if you have no need for the faster speeds it offers.

Very short sighted. Demand goes up and up you'll need fttp before long.  and ultimately it will hit the property value if its copper on resale.

If you are moving to a new build I would ask is the property contracted to BT or a similar provider for a set period? It does seem that when they build new homes some have all the connections and BT gets a minimum contract period.

A small village I lived in for a couple of years had an average BB speed of 0.25 Mb so the village went and got its own BB for people all they had to do was supply the router and login, I don't know how much it cost a month as I moved out before they completed.
Someone please tell me what money is

Or another supplier in some new builds .
BT OR rollout of FTTP to replace existing cabling  is not tied down to BT .

BT do not have any exclusivity with new builds, if it’s an a Openreach FTTP connection then OR offer wholesale access to any ISP that wants to avail itself of it, if you cannot get Sky or TT in a new build that has OR FTTP, that is a commercial decision that they took not to bother, there are alternatives to BT on new builds with FTTP provided by a Openreach.
