I have been using paypal for over 2 years. I have never had a problem with them yet. I remember I was scammed out of £30 and paypay refunded me £28 (minus the fees) I am quite happy with paypal and I have never found a company which can even come close to it.

May I just say- I used to sell on Amazon but the fees are absurd, That's why I stick to e-bay. I sold a game consol for £40 which i thought not too bad a price then when I went to transfer my funds to bank it said amount available was £24 which means £16 in amazon fees. That's why I stick to e-bay

Feel I can offer my 2p worth as well. I've just been stung as a buyer.

Bought an item, paid £16.98 by Paypal and inadvertently left the bank payment option go through for funding rather than credit card as I usually do - why pay directly from my bank when I can have a few weeks' credit instead? Had a message that the payment will take a week to clear - not a major issue as I'm not in a desperate hurry but why the hell does it take so long compared to credit card?

Anyone know why paypal exhort you to use a bank account as primary source of funding? Is there any REAL benefit to anyone in paying via bank accounts?

How about this? Use paypal until you established seller/buyer then can change for other forms.

The REAL benefit in using your bank account to pay is that if you are subsequently scammed you cannot do a chargeback to paypal if they do not refund you the money (so the REAL benefit is to Paypal).

Ever notice what a pain it is to use your credit card rather than bank account to pay funds? Use of a credit card should protect you; this is why paypal don't like it as potentially they could be down on the money if a scam occurs. Quite frankly they are willing to take the fees but the buyer/seller protection policies which they use as a major selling point have as many holes in them as a large collection of holes at the world hole collecting championship.

You may note that a class action lawsuit was taken out in the States against them as it says (used to in US and may still do in ours) that you are not allowed to initiate a chargeback against them using your credit card. An unfair/illegal contract as they are telling you to waive your rights (like someone sub-contracting a builder and in the contract stating that H&S law does not apply then claiming that you signed it so tough - quite illegal)......

    Just my thruppence worth ;)
