Paypal is corrupt!

hi all,
ive been having massive problems with ebay and paypal. basically a company scammed me for £60 via ebay (a commercial seller), and ebay refused to have anything to do with it (dispite all thier claims that they will help out). i had a claim going through with paypal, and paypal started to look into it, and now are just refusing to answer any of my emails.
ive since found out how corrupt they really are, and there are loads of anti-paypal sites out there, and with good reason. check out http://www.aboutpaypal.org
i would seriously advise anyone thinking of using paypal to think again. there are much better solutions out there. like norton antivirus and microsofts products, because they are so heavily marketed, people just assume they are the best. they are of course not, but just have the money to chuck at marketing.
i think what im trying to say is: dont beleive the hype. do a little research and make your own informed judgments.

I'm not quite sure what Norton antivirus has to do with paypal but if there really other companies as good as paypal out there I have never found one.

The trouble is to sell on ebay you have to offer paypal, so no paypal equals little or no sales for me. I've also had in excess of 2000 transactions go through paypal with no problems.

danster www.nochex.co.uk is an alternative but nothing generates and guarantees sales like PayPal, yes they are a bit of a rip-off with fees and people do have problems with them but were would we be without them? Despite offering various methods of payment over 95% of my sales have been via PayPal.

Personally when i sell small value items, say > £20, i offer paypal, however i sell the odd laptop and pc and for those i state clearly NO PAYPAL, and offer direct cash lodgement into my bank account. Most recently the laptop i sold made more than i was expecting, thus having no paypal didn't have an effect (other than keeping the cheating low life scammers away!)

So far paypal have lost about £4000 of my business by me not offering it as an option on pricey items.

People who say paypal is really great tend not to have had any problems with it. When you do you will find that first and foremost they make sure they aren't out the money and sod the seller! It is not the SAFE TRUSTED way to receive payment!! Check out https://www.paypalsucks.com

    hi all,
im not needlessly slagging off paypal, but i thought ild warn people. i thought that paypal and ebay were going to protect me and ive bought and sold quite a few items over ebay. now when i do have a problem with a commercial seller, i find out that ebay are completely hopeless and paypal are completely useless. i have gone through so much hassle because of paypal and ebay. im a web designer, and so am used to buying from the internet (aswell as banking, insurance etc..), now im not so sure. at teh moment i have my credit card company taking up my claim against the seller.
the point i was making about norton and windows is: just because you see their adverts all over the place, it doesnt mean they are any good. dont believe the hype, because thats all it is - hype.
i go with what pgilc1 says.
    cheers

The problem is that ebay and paypal have both had rivals in the past, but the sellers and therefore the buyers stick with ebay and no one else got a look in.

I have only ever bought from Ebay - and if I wanted something it would NOT put me off that the seller didn't offer Paypal. If you don't want to use Paypal then don't - just make your auction look good with plenty of other information.

We had major problems with Paypal a few years ago when they took 800+ pounds out of my current account and placed it into someones account in america!!

This also happened to about 8 other people on AOL..... all going into the same american account.

We DID get the money back but only after three months of telephone calls, emails etc etc.......a very frustrating time.

We never did get an apology off paypal and consequently i refuse to use them which really makes Ebay off limits for us as so many people will only take money via paypal.
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60

...............yes, a LOT of people on ebay use paypal, but there's an awful lot that use cheques, cash, nochex, postal orders, direct bank transfer.....
i've not touched paypal with a bargepole for 3 years now as a seller, and my items do just nicely thankyou. I've even had 100's of emails saying 'thankyou so much for warning about paypal' as i write in big red letters "no paypal"

ebay have banned linking to sites against paypal, so i have to write "see www paypalwarning com" with no dots
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

I had a problem with a seller the other week who sold me something blatantly lying abou the item in order to get a higher price for it. I paid via paypal. When the item arrived it was clearly wrong, so i contacted the seller who said "tough". I then raised a dispute via paypal who contacted the seller. I was asking for a refund of the difference in price between what i paid and what the item was really worth. Posting the item back to the seller wasnt an option as it would have cost twice what the item was worth. Paypal contacted the seller who then said "i`ll give a total refund if he sends the item back". I emailed paypal explaining again that this wasnt an option and 3 weeks later ive not heard a think back from them. They have since decided to cancel my dispute.

    Bunch of muppets.
