Online shopping delivery slots during crisis

  • I have been trying for days to book a slot. All the slots for three weeks are unavailable. I have watched the next date roll over at midnight, but even immediately, there are no available slots. It cannot be possible that all the slots for a whole day get booked up within literally seconds of a new date being offered. Can anybody help me to manage to book a slot. Today is now just the 18th March, 20 minutes after midnight. I had the site open before midnight, logged in, and when the last date in the third week changed from April 06 to 07, at about 5secs after midnight, there were still not available slots. I have tried on other nights, using Firefox, or Safari. Always the same.
Thanks for any help. I am over 70, and meant to be staying away from shops while the corona virus is a problem.

It may be that they've suspended advance booking as they struggle with current demand.

Minimum 2 week wait for an available slot here.

Do any of the other supermarkets deliver to your area? Iceland, Asda, Sainsburys etc. I did read today Morrisons are expanding delivery services due to high demand.

How about Milk & More? Pricey but worth it if your desperate.
Site down at the moment but hopefully up soon.

There's rumours of a shared home delivery system involving all of the supermarkets delivery networks being set up following discussion with the government . Also shared shop delivery lorries involving a much narrower range of products than normal

  • I read that Sainsbury will have slots prioritised for 70+ year olds from Monday 23rd - I think all supermarkets should have this.

Many 70+ year olds don't use the internet and would rely on younger people making orders for them.

The only problem is  ...  they don't know who their "elderly and vulnerable" (their phrase) customers are.  I'm disabled,  and I also order on my account for my 89 year old mum.  But nowhere in the account details does it specify that .  There are no delivery slots at all over the next 3 weeks, for either my address or my mums (which is 130 miles away).
The sainsburys CEO has posted a notice to say that they will be contacting elderly and vulnerable customers next week, to ensure they are prioritised ...  not sure how they plan to do that,  seeing as they don't know who we are.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

I did see on bbc tv news one of the supermarkets were looking into standardised boxes of essentials, which would be packed at distribution centres and not from the store

where i am, my village has a Tesco, they are doing morning for elderly and the vulnerable, not that i think it makes a difference here, 45% of the villedge ( last years info) are over 65, factor in the " vulnerable" prob 65%, the other 35% might like me be at work, so 65% go as normal in the morning, ransack the shelves, - i go at 6 after work, nothing left, 3 days, 4 supermarkets i got a loaf of bread at the petrol station, ( social distancing inst working here, spent more time with other people in supermarkets than ever before)
delivery slots, last i looked here it was 2 weeks away i think, id actually quite happily book that, as we normally go every 2 weeks, but think for orders they should pick before the stock goes out for the day, otherwise it will just get cancelled or ill find my 9 loo rolls are substituted for asda value sponges ,

Well I've just tried Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Morrisons, Ocado & Iceland. Either no slots available, or their website can't be accessed.
