Grievance with VW

So did the report say anything about a fault with the roof or not? You also keep saying that your daughter couldn't have damaged it because it's just a button, firstly people can damage buttons, secondly VW have said the mechanism is damaged not the button which could have got damaged in a number of ways so it would have been sensible to look into what part of the mechanism was damaged and tried to work out how that happened rather that constantly repeating that it's just a button, the button is what controls the mechanism and has no bearing on if or how the mechanism got damaged.1

Good question. Perhaps Photome will explain? Perhaps the thinking is unless your daughters Dad is a top ranking Queen's Counsel? There is in my humble opinion, absolutely no chance in not you and her dad, but your daughter taking them to court and arriving at a satisfactory conclusion.photome said:
What is the relevance?LABMAN said:

No they didn’t remove the roof they put her car on a diagnostic check and it came back with many electrical faultspowerful_Rogue said:What does the independant report actually state?Did they remove anything to complete the report and not put it back correctly? That in itself means nothing. What did the independant report actually state?
Perhaps you can inform posters what model of VW car she purchased with panoramic roof?
Perhaps it has history of faults?

Did you/ your daughter retrieve the roof? It's heavy so can hardly have blown away.
Has she reported the damage to her insurer? What was their response?0 -
No, the police looked for it but couldn't find it.LilElvis said:Did you/ your daughter retrieve the roof? It's heavy so can hardly have blown away.0 -
"many electrical faults" simply shows the status of the car, not how the faults occurred.Coco52 said:No they didn’t remove the roof they put her car on a diagnostic check and it came back with many electrical faults
With an electrically operated roof, it's sometimes very easy to cause damage (both the roof and electrical components) by closing the roof whilst it's jammed with something in the way so it doesn't move correctly and without proof to the contrary, VW could easily state that this is exactly what happened.1 -
Thank you all for your comments I have taken everyone’s comments on board I hope there will be a good outcome in all of this , so thanks again0

They said they would - doesn't mean they did as they might have had some actual policing to do. If it wasn't obstructing the highway why would/ should they waste their time? The OP and their daughter could have looked for it the next morning but don't appear to have bothered.Aylesbury_Duck said:

I suppose that it depends on what type of road it happened and also where it landed.LilElvis said:The OP and their daughter could have looked for it the next morning but don't appear to have bothered.
If it was a motorway then looking for the roof the next day would be extremely difficult unless they could have found minor roads running very close to where the roof came off.
Apart from that, if the roof looked to be in fairly good condition, I wouldn't be surprised if it was salvaged by someone in a passing van or lorry.0 -
It wasn’t on a motorway thank god because a big piece of glass flying towards you Could have caused a major accident, it was a country lane but the lanes each side had big dips which there was no way she could have got down there , The police contacted the traffic police who said they would try and locate it but as of yet they haven’t contacted hershaun_from_Africa said:
