Rather rude in you manner, if you are so impatient with people why do you bother yourself commenting! and once again, I am not cancelling as an over reaction, I wanted to cancel because I cannot be bothered with insurances closer to the time should this not have blown over - my post does state that I was more concerned about my credit rating which you seem to have overlooked, but I obviously had to give  the story as a background but thank you for your comments anyway.
Not sure how to do the quote thingy
You should have your ins in place already, Ins should be bought as soon as a holiday is booked.....

If you have paid by credit card I can see a set of circumstances where you can get all your money back as long as the banks have not failed as well.

I would also like to hear your reasoning on this.

Please expand on these circumstances, especially with reference to this case.

Again, you will have until December 2020 to cancel a TUI holiday for March 2021, with only loss of deposit. That's plenty of time to see how the situation plays out without having to worry about insurance claims.

Bottom line is you want to cancel now and don't want to pay TUI £250 that you do owe them.  They have said they will chase you for it. Its unlikely to affect your credit file until TUI or a debt collection agency has taken you to.court for it and secured a CCJ.

If TUI goes the way Thomas Cook went the deposit could be recovered. The airline industry will be decimated over the next 6 months . I flew from the USA last Friday and the aircraft was two thirds empty most pax had a row to themselves

So your set of circumstances to help to OP and answer their question is based purely on TUI collapsing and them getting their money back from the credit card company? Great. Very helpful.

BTW, TUI packages have ATOL protection so should the circumstances you suggest happen then they would get a refund no matter how paid.

That's highly unlikely, TUI doesn't suffer from the self inflicted damage that TC experienced.

I have been in one Tui package already this year and already have 3 more trips booked with them.  I fully intend to travel unless my personal circumstances and health advice changes.  My next holiday is at Easter and I’m definitely looking forward to it!
