I just checked the small print of my policy and I have paid extra for Travel Disruption which allows me to cancel and covers Flu Epidemics and Pandemics but does not cover Coronavirus!  I guess when we take out these insurances we do it good faith, we don't know what sort of events might prevent us travelling in the future and how they will be categorised.

I doubt any policy issued up to start of March would include specific wording about CoVid-19 Corona virus. Up until early January it really was not known and wasn't named.  The CoVid-19 name also came at a later point.
I would have thought "covers Flu Epidemics and Pandemics" would be sufficient cover.

I wonder if 2001lb has been told specifically by his insurers that his policy doesn't cover Coronavirus or if he is just assuming it doesn't because it's not specifically mentioned.

AA silver is the best travel insurance to get then? Article says all the others dont cover everything apart from Churchill and Direct Line who say 'depends on circumstances' if flight is cancelled. But article then goes on to say that they would go with these 2? So which is it?

I have travel insurance with Coverwise. Reading the policy wording, it has a section called "Travel disruption" which covers FCO travel advisories, but it states "only operative if indicated in the schedule", which of course it isn't. However MSE is showing Coverwise as a Top-pick travel insurance that covers FCO Covid-19 advisories and state that Coverwise have said they do cover this.  I can't get through to Coverwise. Has anyone spoken to Coverwise to confirm this?

I've double checked with the insurer and they definitely don't cover Covid 19, only pandemics and flu epidemics.  Seems odd but that's the cover.  Just kept referring to FCO - which I knew...

Just checked - looks like the Silver level and above wording includes Travel Disruption section P, which does clearly mention cover if FCO advise against travel after booking
  • Jet 2 holidays very helpful with my holiday booked to Rome in May, cancelled with refund when I called customer services.
Must be a nightmare sorting all the issues out.
  • Hi, Help needed.
My Step Daughter was due to start with Travel Company TUI in Cyprus on 28th March she signed contract and handed in notice to her previous job, but TUI have now said Job not likely to start until June if at all. Contract states that its not valid  until she sets foot in Cyprus.
Her old job have taken her on temporarily on a Zero hours contract but because of the lockdown she now has no work.
What can she claim from the government under this situation?

    Thank you
