Corona-virus - How worried are you?

  • Boris really came across as a bumbling fool last night in the press conference.  I literally lost any bit of respect I had for that man, last night

Some great questions were asked, and all he responded with, was hot air.

Italy were in the same situation as us, two weeks ago - and now look at them.

Decisions are not being made fast enough.  Every 'choice' made so far is economy and money based.

All GPs in my city have stopped face to face appointments (triage first, then most urgent get in).

If you ring 111 with COVID 19 symptoms you are told to stay at home, and don't get tested. Just self isolate - so they don't know the real statistics

Cheltenham festival should be cancelled - because over 250,000 people are going to be a breeding ground for the virus - the government obviously have shares in horses or champagne !!
Italy and other European countries are doing the correct thing - whereas our complacent leaders appear to believe that since we are leaving Europe - the virus will not affect us ..... INSANITY !

They know it will affect us.  But it won't affect them - or if it does, they will get healthcare.  We have got people with COVID-19 just self isolating and not offered any care

Wouldn't it be a treat for the government, if there were to be huge death toll?  The UK is really overcrowded in many areas and this would ease the strain on the services, if a decent number of the population were lopped off.

We are just a science experiment in a petri dish to them - they are just watching from their sheltered lives

Quite possibly although I am not sure where you draw the line. What would you say if it was likely to attract only 25,000 or 2,500?

I read that a very large ATP / WTA tennis tournament in Indian Wells has been cancelled at short notice, despite very few cases in that area of the USA. Sensible precaution or wild over reaction?

Of the 3 more people to die (taking the total up to 6), one was 'in his early 80s and had underlying health conditions'.
The 5th was a patient in their 70s who had long term health conditions.

A woman in her 70s was confirmed to have passed too who was also suffering with underlying health conditions.

The other three cases also all include members of the public over the age of 60 who were suffering with other poor health issues.

"What's the risk for people like me?"

The same measles that many have been vaccinated against with the MMR? @Gers

The point is that the UK has lost it's 'measles free' status because of mad anti-vaccers, putting many at risk.  A vaccine is available and being refused.

I'm actually more concerned about catching measles (or chicken pox) than coronavirus as I didn't get either when I was a child.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/mmr-vaccine-when-needed/ - you can still have the innoculation now.  Worth doing.

It will save them a fortune in reduced benefits costs !

It might also kill off a lot of those people who are working and not claiming benefits who are therefore putting into the pot, not taking out of it.
And maybe those people we've spend lots of money on training, such as doctors and nurses.
