Asda own brand, the red ones; 4 for £1. Taste to me the same as Branston beans but a lot cheaper.

Branston Beans for me, £1.50 for 4 in B&M! We used to get Aldi's own brand, but we had a few tins where the quality was poor, and the beans were quite hard.

Thanks,I found that Aldis beans tend to be firmer myself

Yes stockpiling is a sure way to start a shortage.

The circumstances in my household are different to most others so I have to stockpile food

I always 'stockpile' things like baked beans because it's the only thing I buy regularly from Waitrose. I bought 12 tins last week and felt very guilty even though it was 'normal' for me.
  • Yesterday I saw some youngsters buying multiple 4-packs of beans in Lidl, and debating loading more into their trolley. I don't know if this speaks of the quality of the beans, or pure desperation?!

  • Sainsburys baked beans are so tasty. I always have a stock of 6 cans in at any one time as they are so versatile.

Branston for me but I've been unable to get any apart from 50p a tin from Tesco,  I dared buy 2 tins but when I got to the check out they charged 65p a tin.   I told them they were 50p a tin but they said only if you buy 4 tins.  That's just encouraging stock piling, I asked for a refund as no way am I paying 65p for a tin of beans.

We prefer Lidl beans, and the cheaper ones (you need a tin opener for) are much better than the more expensive ring pull version they also do. The Cheaper one has far more beans to sauce, just the right amount. The more expensive one is half a can of sauce!

I'd like to see an audit -- a bean-count if you will - of the number of beans in each brand's cans.  The M&S ones are nice enough at 28p, but there seems to be an awful lot of sauce
