O/S Daily Tuesday 25 February 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Getting light, but damp and blustery still.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was omelettes with a choice of cheese, ham or mushrooms - or a combo of any - menfolk had chips with theirs, I had salad. Tonight will be gammon, new potatoes and bits from the fridge, hairdresser is coming so it'll be a bit of a later dinner.
Yesterday work was quite full on for me, although we were busier than we have been, I had a case that took up most of the first thing then another difficult one, but got them both done with what help I could give, the decisions will be made by another dept. It's my earlier finish today so will be home a bit earlier, hopefully I'll be able to get some jobs done.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
Thank you nmlc for starting us off. I had a better night's sleep but still woke up 4 times to use the loo. Everyone else is still fast asleep but Steve has set an alarm as I have a shopping delivery at 9am.
The district nurse came and looked at my leg. Thankfully I don't have an infection but I am waterlogged again so I have to have my leg dressed and go to bed every afternoon to get them up. She is going to chase up my new support stockings as well as the ones I am currently using don't fit properly any more. My GP is ringing me this morning as well so I will ask him for advice too about doubling my water tablet temporarily. I shall be firmly attached to the loo for the next week or so I feel.
I am not sure what is going to be for dinner tonight. I think we have an enchilada mix so that could be a possibility, I will have to ask Steve to do a freezer dive and see what we get. The fridge didn't get sorted after all so that will be a top priority this morning. I also have to print out my bank statements for the council so that definitely has to be done today as I have left it till the last minute to do so.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning All
Cold and damp this morning but looking forward to the sunny spells forecast!
Work flew by yesterday, quite enjoyed the business and got lots done. Opened a box from the cupboard of doom yesterday that's been lurking around since I moved in (6 years ago!). It seems to be things the children have collected over the years so it's sorted into bags to take to them, also a few bits for the CS.
Meeting a friend after work for something to eat and a chat, looking forward to it.
Have a good day, take care. XX16 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Back to a silly o'clock waking for me - bah.
Well it's a different start to yesterday when we woke up to heavy snow. All is quiet and peaceful out there - for now! Yesterday we ended up with the road flooded again, The drains couldn't cope with all the melting snow and heavy rain,as well as the excess water from the moor road running down. It was all hands on deck from the younger and fitter neighbours, once again lifting the drain covers and ramming rods up and down until they got the water moving. The water was lapping up to the door of the old chap at the end and someone appeared with some sandbags to put down. You wonder why we are paying our rates, surely this is the council's responsibility!
It's my usual Tuesday meet up for coffees and lunch with oldest friend. We missed last week as she was visiting her DS but as I was floored with the bug I would have had to cancel anyway. There will be three of us today as another friend is joining us. Just another couple of weeks before the coffee shop closes and then we will be looking for a new venue. It will be a sad day for all the regulars.
AAAARGH I just popped in the kitchen to make a second coffee to see it's snowing again!!! This wasn't forecast it's supposed to be raining. Hopefully it won't last, we had enough yesterday. It was 9.30 before the gritter finally arrived up here so lots of people for whom it was too far to walk would be late for work and school.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care all and stay safe xx

Good morning
Well, best laid plans and all that! I had a return of the dreaded vertigo yesterday so that put paid to yoga, and coffee and cake with my friend. I spent all day on either bed or sofa. Fine lying down but everything spinning once I moved.
Anyway, another day, another dollar and here I am. Absolutely fine! But today's outing will be to the supermarket - not quite the same!
Wet again here, as usual, but still feeling much luckier than lots of folk.
Dumpling - I'm glad you are getting the legs sorted. Hope it goes well.
TA you seem to have an awful lot of weather. I always think of you living in Postman Pat's Greendale. He had a lot of weather too!
Happy Tuesday all16 -
Morning Happy shrove Tuesday
Rain on the books again for today what a miserable winter this is. At least we dont have a flooding issue that must be awful.
New terrorist came round yesterday and he (yes he...) did a full assessment which a took a while and half killed me! Results were pretty positive ...no cognitive loss (despite what others might think!) only minor issues with right arm and hand but it does need muscle work so the main issue as I expected was my right foot and knee. He wants me moving round as much as poss without any aids now so wobbly walking will be the mission. He also talked to me about gym membership (with the PT team there) swimming and even yoga. Sounds good to me and as long as they are there initially I will build my confidence back up.
the haddock and prawn parcel was gorgeous and so easy...as predicted my parcel wrapping was as bad as my present wrapping but tasted just as good. some prawns left over so ill have some prawn cocktail today before my necessary pile of pancakes.
Pens have been evicted from the house so just need to declutter the bottle of fizz she brought
Have a good day all

Morning it’s cold but dry so far here I think it will rain later. I am working this morning then I am going to see my brother. He sounded so much better when I spoke to him yesterday so hopefully he will be home soon.
Not at sure what we will have for tea I need to go to the shop for a few things so might pick up something different for tea I get bored of the same things14 -
Morning all, it is still cold but clear and sunny at present, a lovely change.
I have quite a bit of work to do today, will be working on Thursday and Friday. Thursday will involve travel to Somerset so will be a long day. Today is just report writing at home.
Pancake day today, I don't eat them, , but make them for others. Nels you are doing well!
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning everyone, a bright start to the morning here, chilly though. Well yesterday didn't go as planned. I was meeting a friend for lunch OH didn't go to work till late morning. My friend and I chatted for longer than usual by the time I got back it was tea time. So no yoga achieved today, hey ho keeping connections with interesting caring people is as important and now I'm not working I have more time for this. Bless them, I have few really good friends who are all different and have met in different workplaces or happenstance and they now realise I have more time so this week is catching up week. Today out this morning for coffee and then tomorrow out for afternoon catchup. Going to have to find more inexpensive ways to meet up! At home would be cheapest but not always convenient for them or me. Whatever happens it's nice to keep those friendships alive even if it's only once every couple of months. So plans for today are sketchy, will leave when OH goes to work and then go with the flow. I do like a schedule of sorts but over the years have realised to let go on certain things. I will let the universe take control and hang onto my hat!
Glad your legs are getting sorted DUMPLING take all the rest you need. TA, feeling for you, we are so lucky we have had only one short burst...more of a flurry really this winter.
Well was off for a walk but my lap has been commandeered by one of the kittys and to be honest I don't need much of an excuse!
Hugs to thems that need them and stay safe.x

Morning all
Dolly walked and fed I have the dreaded cold caught from DH and DS must remember to thank them . We are keeping an eye to the travel news for Italy as DD2 gets married in Sorrento in 8 weeks luckily at the moment its not in that part so fingers crossed . Mother says she should cancel now as she isn't worried about Coronavirus but being stuck there like she was in France during a general strike and running out of food I actually dont think its food she is worried about its her incopadsshe finished the conversation with her usual statement of They aren't like us over there (cant find rolling eye face so please imagine)
I am off into town to collect some shoes from the cobler for DS £25 for a resole and heel ! still they were an expensive pair but makes you wonder at those prices if its worth it. Dinner tonight fish pie spinach and peas x
Nels you are doing so well keep up the good work
TA enjoy your catch up
Dumpling hope your GP can help
Happycas Glad you are feeling better
Have a great day whatever you are up to and stay warm and safe xx
