My house has solar PV panels on a feed in tariff. I have had to explain to EVERY viewer how the scheme works. Basically it is free money, but most folks have never heard of it and think it sounds too good to be true.
A good way to describe it briefly is "the property benefits from solar panels that generate electricity. A tax free "feedin tariff" is paid in cash to the homeowner every quarter. This benefit is more than the total cost of heating the property and will be payable to the new owner until XX(ie the date the fit contract ends).
You really have to spell it out, Otherwise most folks simply won't get that they are a brilliant thing to have!1
