Thanks for that. I think it must have been £500 when I first added the account to the thread and that at some point they have increased the maximum monthly deposit. I have just corrected the entry. Addendum: Also updated to show the maximum balance is now £100,000 (it was £50,000).t1redmonkey said:@Special_Saver2 slight correction to your figures for that Earl Shilton account, max is £1000 per month not £500

I was worried I would not have enough time to do it now but I have just created an entry for the Furness BS 1 Year Regular Saver (Issue 5) on page 1 of this thread. I have had to create a new type of sub-heading, called "Accounts available to all UK residents but has to be opened in branch" because of this account. I have to go now... Have a good weekend everybody!6

Correct; ESBS made these two changes when they made changes to their interest rates recentlySpecial_Saver2 said:

They appear to have removed the post code/locality restriction as well. I have had an account since mid July and live 120 miles away.happybagger said:

But it can also be opened by post.Special_Saver2 said:I was worried I would not have enough time to do it now but I have just created an entry for the Furness BS 1 Year Regular Saver (Issue 5) on page 1 of this thread. You don't login to BoS with your Halifax details, you register for online BoS access, and enter your Halifax account details as part of the registration process.subjecttocontract said:

Are you allowed to open a RBS Regular Saver by using Halifax details to register for online banking with Bank of Scotland and also not have a Bank of Scotland current account ?chris_the_bee said:
Don't forget that as a Halifax customer you can use your account details to open similar EA account with Bank of Scotland, also up to £250/month @ 4.5%
https://www.bankofscotland.co.uk/savings/accounts/monthly-saver.html- You can open this account if you're 16 or over and a UK resident. You also need to have a Bank of Scotland current account.
RBS =/= BoS.But yes - you can register for BoS internet banking using your Halifax details, and then open a BoS RS without a BoS current account that way.
Many thanks.0 -
This works both ways. If you have a BOS login that doesn't show your Halifax accounts, and a Halifax login that doesn't show your BOS accounts, you can create an additional login for each using the details of accounts that don't cross-appear. You can then open a total of 4 regular savers.vernall said:I used to have a BOS current account and RS few years ago, the RS matured and I got rid of the current account in some switch incentive.
I have always held a Halifax account so when they upped their RS rates I opened one for its 4.5%
Few days later I thought I would open a BOS current account again just for their 4.5% RS. I was using my phone at the time so went through the current account opening process, all went through fine so just had to wait for online access to arrive so i could open their RS.
That night I happened to be on my laptop and go to the BOS website, I pressed log in and the laptop had remembered my username and password from few years ago, so I logged in to see if anything was there. It showed my Halifax account and the Halifax RS. Looking at savings accounts it allowed me to open a BOS RS with no current account being open at all.
I opened it and it was showing straight away when I logged into my Halifax banking app too. I deposited via my Halifax account. To this day on my Halifax banking app and the old BOS banking this BOS RS is still showing.
My online access arrived from the new BOS current account, I logged in and the new current account was showing, but no sign of the Halifax account or the Halifax RS or more importantly the BOS RS. I clicked on the savings accounts available to me and to my surprise a RS was available to me to open at 4.5%. I have not opened another one but looks like there is a glitch in the system that would allow me to do so.
Just to clarify, when I log into Halifax and my old BOS the same accounts are showing, Halifax account, Halifax RS and BOS RS. When I log into BOS with the new current account there is only that account showing.
Worth a punt opening another RS you recon for another 4.5%?

BOS Reg Saver - 4.5%
It seems to have let me open an account without having a current account with either them or Halifax. (I have a couple of old Everyday Saver accounts and a new RS with them)
What could bite me on the bum here? Would I not be able to get my money out unless i have a CA with (either of) them, or will I not get the stated level of interest shown.
I didn't think it would let me proceed with the application to be honest, but I pressed the button just to see.
Should I just apply for the CA?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

Just seen this reply. Seems that it is the case that you only need to be an existing Halifax customer, NOT have a BoS current account?

So now i have with different log in details........
Original Halifax account + Halifax RS + BOS RS
plus
New BOS account + new BOS RS
I do not understand how I can get a second Halifax RS open and showing on the new BOS log in.
I went to BOS and tried to register/create new log in details and entered my Halifax account no/sort code and it says I am already registered for online banking and to use those details or reset them if I have forgotten.
Any pointers in right direction?
