Personally, I would be putting in £500 a month if it is only 1.85%. There are still a few fixed rate regular savings around. Lloyds for example.
This inspired me to look in to opening a Club Lloyds Current Account as a brand new customer to gain access to their two regular savers. I wouldn't normally open a current account without a switch incentive but I doubt many banks are going to be offering incentives in the near future. However it seems that Lloyds insist that you have to provide identification in branch to complete the online application. I've not had this with any of the other banks with which I hold current accounts with as they all do electronic checks. Having contacted Lloyds via Twitter I was told that the 'majority' of customers have to visit a branch, even in the current situation.....

Has this been other peoples experience of opening a current account with Lloyds? Wondering if I should take a chance and see if the account opens without requiring a visit? I don't particularly want to visit a branch right now.

I opened the account on my lunch break a while ago and it was instantly open without any ID. As long as you're on the electoral roll you should be fine I'd say.

I'm guessing you aren't able to open the regular saver accounts until you get some paperwork through? I was told that opening a current account would take 7-10 working days and so hope an axe doesn't fall on the regular saver interest rates in the meantime.

You would need the online access so yeah you'd have to wait a couple of days (for me that was 4 iirc) to receive the letter with the activation code.

You can open the Lloyds Monthly Saver without a linked Lloyds current account
    No you can't

Are you perhaps confusing it with the Halifax Regular Saver?

I opened a Club Lloyds bank account last year and didn't need to visit a branch with ID. I still haven't had to set foot in one - yet.

When I rang Kent Reliance today to ask for an application form, they agreed to issue one, but they made a point of stating that, though they're prepared to send the application form out for opening the account under current circumstances, that once (if!) things return to normal, any regular savings account opened by post would then have to return to being operated in branch and the pass book would have to be collected from the branch.  Hmmm...
Well it is a branch based account isn't it?!
So its a day trip to Kent or Hampshire. Canterbury and Littlehampton are nice - so a nice day trip?

If you're driving down from Essex, East Anglia or thereabouts, the Gravesend branch is useful as you can park at Tilbury and get the foot ferry across, then walk to the branch. Quicker than using the M25 and avoids the Dartford Crossing.

That sounds like quite a nice trip out actually!

So Issue 1 & 2 on Reg Saver a/c's are both dropping to 1.85 as of 6th May - disappointing, but not surprised.

I will still put the £500 in every month, as I have deposited 4 times so far at 2%, so it is still worth the £60+ interest I'll receive.

Fingers crossed the Club Lloyds Monthly Saver holds out until the end of the month at 2.5%, as I will open one of those too.
